Diarmuid Cody
Diarmuid Cody (born 1994) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a wing back or midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Kilkenny, Cody was introduced to hurling by his father, Brian, the long-serving manager of the Kilkenny senior team. He enjoyed All-Ireland successes at colleges level with St. Kieran's College while simultaneously enjoying championship successes at underage levels with the James Stephens club. Diarmuid made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He was added to the senior panel during the 2015 championship. James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. History James Stephens was founded in 1887 as a hurling club. The club is named after James Stephens, founding member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and took part in its first championship in 1888. Munster Technological University Cork GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Munster Technological University in Bishopstown, Cork, Ireland. The club fields teams in a range of competitions in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Gaelic games were first played at the then Cork Regional Technical College when a student Gaelic football team was established in 1975. A student hurling team was set up the following year. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Brian Cody
Brian Cody (born 12 July 1954) is an Irish former hurling manager and player and retired schoolmaster. He managed the senior Kilkenny county team between 1998 and 2022, becoming the county's longest-serving manager and most successful in terms of major titles won. Cody is regarded as the greatest manager in the history of the game. Cody was appointed manager of the Kilkenny senior team on 16 November 1998 and led Kilkenny through a period of unprecedented provincial and national dominance, winning 43 major honours. These include eleven All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship titles, including a record-equalling four-in-a-row between 2006 and 2009, seventeen Leinster Senior Hurling Championship titles in twenty three seasons, ten National Hurling League titles (among which were five league-championship doubles) and seven Walsh Cups. 2015 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2015 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 129th staging of the All-Ireland championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The draw for the 2015 fixtures took place on 9 October 2014 live on RTÉ2. The championship began on 3 May 2015 and ended on 6 September 2015.
