Diann Blakely
Diann Blakely (June 1, 1957 – August 5, 2014) was an American poet, essayist, editor, and critic. She taught at Belmont University, Harvard University, Vanderbilt University, led workshops at two Vermont College residencies, and served as senior instructor and the first poet-in-residence at the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, Tennessee. A "Robert Frost Fellow" at Bread Loaf, she was a Dakin Williams Fellow at the Sewanee Writers' Conference at which she had worked earlier as founding coordinator. Life and work Born Harriet Diann Blakely in Anniston, Alabama on June 1, 1957, Blakely graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in art history from the University of the South in 1979, she subsequently received a Master of Arts in literature from Vanderbilt University in 1980 and a Master of Fine Arts from Vermont College in 1989. Diann Burns
Diann Burns (born September 29, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio) is a former television news anchor and a nine-time Emmy Award-winner. She is best known for her years as a prime-time weekday anchor for two different Chicago television stations. She has also appeared in several major movies (see Film credits) and at least one television dramatic series (see Television credits). She is the first African-American woman to anchor the prime-time news in Chicago. She entered the Chicago TV market as a reporter after a successful career as newspaper journalist. She earned an advanced degree in journalism at Columbia University in New York. Diann Roffe (born March 24, 1967), also known as Diann Roffe-Steinrotter, is a former World Cup alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist from the United States. Early life Roffe was born in Warsaw, New York and learned to ski at tiny Brantling Ski Center near Rochester, New York.Sports Illustrated' – Zone of their own – February 28, 1994 Career Roffe placed 8th in the World Cup Giant Slalom Race on March 7, 1984, at Lake Placid (and placed 9th in the same discipline on December 15, 1984, at Madonna di Campiglio). Diann Shipione is a former trustee of the San Diego, California City Employees' Retirement System pension board, credited with exposing unlawful underfunding of the pension fund and omissions in municipal bond sales documents. She was formerly a vice president at UBS Financial Services and is the wife of businessman Patrick C. Shea. Situation background The San Diego City Employees' Retirement System had been underfunded in some form for more than a decade. In 2001, as a result of years of sharp increases in pension benefits combined with decreases in pension funding and a decrease in the value of investments, the fund fell below certain funding targets.
