Diane Madden
Diane Madden (born 1958) is a modern dancer, teacher and choreographer based in Brussels, Belgium and New York City. Education Madden attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Career Beginning in 1980, she worked with the Trisha Brown Company. She was rehearsal director from 1984 to 2000. From 1982 to 1987, Madden was part of Channel Z, an improvisational performance ensemble. Other members of Channel Z were Daniel Lepkoff, Robin Feld, Randy Warschaw, Paul Langland, Nina Martin, and Stephen Petronio. Trisha Brown
Trisha Brown (November 25, 1936 – March 18, 2017) was an American choreographer and dancer, and one of the founders of the Judson Dance Theater and the postmodern dance movement. Brown’s dance/movement method, with which she and her dancers train their bodies, remains pervasively impactful within international postmodern dance. Early life and education Brown was born in Aberdeen, Washington in 1936, and received a B.A. degree in dance from Mills College in 1958. Brown later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000. For several summers she studied with Louis Horst, José Limón, and Merce Cunningham at the American Dance Festival, then held at Connecticut College. Paul Langland
Paul Langland (born February 6, 1951) is an American dancer, singer, choreographer and Arts Professor at New York University. Career Langland's professional career began in 1972. In his work as a dancer and choreographer he has spanned many disciplines, among them the creation and development of "Allan Wayne Work" a dance technique named after his mentor. Langland is a longtime practitioner and teacher of contact improvisation. He was also a member of the Meredith Monk ensemble. In December 1984, Langland choreographed and performed ''Circa 1950–51,'' along choreographer Le Schaetzel at Bessie Schönberg Theatre. In October 1989, Langland performed in the same theatre's ''Nuts (Homage to Freud).'' In 1990, Langland perform in Sharon Wyrrick's Full Circle Company at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Stephen Petronio
Stephen Petronio (born March 20, 1956) is an American choreographer, dancer, and the artistic director of New York City-based Stephen Petronio Company. Stephen Petronio was born in Newark, New Jersey. He grew up in nearby Nutley and graduated in 1974 from Nutley High School. He received a B.A. degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he began dancing in 1974. Prior to pursuing a career in dance, Petronio studied pre-medicine before being inspired by the dancing of Rudolf Nureyev and Steve Paxton, with whom he studied contact improvisation. From 1982 to 1987 he was a member of Channel Z, an improvisation performance ensemble based in New York City.
