Diane Lees
Dame Diane Elizabeth Lees, (born 1964) is the current and first female Director-General of the Imperial War Museum. Prior to succeeding Sir Robert Crawford on 1 October 2008, she had been the director of the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, London since 2000. She is also Chair of thNational Museum Directors' Council Lees began her career as an historic buildings researcher before moving into managing exhibitions, education and interpretation. She was involved in the rescue and relocation of a hat block manufacturer's workshop in central Manchester; the recovery and display of Henry VIII's flagship ''Mary Rose'' in Portsmouth Harbour and re-display of the Nelson Galleries at the Royal Naval Museum. Lees was also involved in creating SPECTRUM, the UK standard for the recording of information about museum collections and was responsible for the creation of the multi-award-winning Galleries of Justice in Nottingham (the UK's only museum of law). Imperial War Museum
Imperial War Museums (IWM) is a British national museum organisation with branches at five locations in England, three of which are in London. Founded as the Imperial War Museum in 1917, the museum was intended to record the civil and military war effort and sacrifice of Britain and British Empire, its Empire during the First World War. The museum's remit has since expanded to include all conflicts in which British or Commonwealth forces have been involved since 1914. As of 2012, the museum aims "to provide for, and to encourage, the study and understanding of the history of modern war and 'wartime experience'." The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. The 2022 New Year Honours are appointments by some of the 15 Commonwealth realms to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by citizens of those countries. Story Museum
The Story Museum is a museum in Oxford, England. It aims to encourage education and support community engagement by exploring all forms of stories. It is a registered charity under English law. As of 7 July 2018 the exhibitions of the museum were closed for renovation, although the cafe remained open. The museum was slated to reopen to the public on Saturday 4 April 2020, but the opening was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It partially reopened on 6 August, with visitors able to visit the cafe, shop and two of the new galleries. The full reopening happened on the 24 October 2020. History The museum was founded in 2003 and initially operated as a virtual museum with no premises of its own.
