Diamantbollen
Diamantbollen, Swedish for the ''Diamond Ball'', an annual award for Sweden's best female football player. The award is currently awarded by the Swedish Football Association and Sydsvenskans newspaper, in conjunction with its male equivalent, ''Guldbollen''. Diamantbollen was first awarded in 1990 in cooperation between the Swedish Football Association and the newspaper ''Arbetet'' until 2000. Since 2001, the awards has been awarded by the Swedish Football Association and Sydsvenskan. The precursor of this award, "Årets fotbollstjej" ("Soccer Girl of the Year"), was awarded by the Swedish Football Association and Dagens Nyheter from 1980 to 1989. Since 2002, the recipient of the award has received a blown crystal structure designed by Melanie Rydoff. The award is in the shape of a kernel with smooth concave top. Lotta Schelin
Charlotta Eva Schelin (born 27 February 1984) is a Swedish former professional footballer who most recently played as a striker for FC Rosengård of the Damallsvenskan. She made her debut for the Sweden national team in March 2004 and was appointed joint captain alongside Caroline Seger in October 2012. Schelin has represented her country in the 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017 editions of the UEFA Women's Championship, as well as the 2007, 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups. She also played at the Olympic football tournaments in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Fridolina Rolfö
Fridolina Rolfö (born 24 November 1993) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Spanish Liga F club FC Barcelona and the Sweden women's national team. Club career After joining from Tölö, Rolfö scored nine league goals for Jitex in her debut Damallsvenskan season, 2011. Her favoured position was on the right wing, so she could cut inside and shoot with her strong left foot. She was named the 2011 Women's Junior Player of the Year by ''Göteborgs-Posten'', Rolfö signed for Linköping in 2014 and scored a hat-trick on her UEFA Women's Champions League debut against English champions Liverpool. Eleonor Hultin
Eleonor Hultin (born 9 August 1963) is a Swedish former footballer who played as a forward for GAIS and Jitex BK of the Swedish Championship. She won two editions of the ''Årets Fotbollstjej'' Award, the forerunner of the Diamantbollen, in 1987 and 1989, and was Damallsvenskan top scorer in 1989. She won 24 caps and scored six goals for the Sweden women's national football team. Club career In 1987, while playing for the Gothenburg club GAIS, Hultin was named Swedish Women's Footballer of the Year. Gärd Kristin "Kicki" Bengtsson (born 12 January 1970) is a Swedish former footballer who played as a defender. She represented the Sweden national team from 1991 to 2005. Career She holds 157 caps for the Swedish women's national team. Bengtsson has appeared in three World Cups, 1995, 1999, and 2003 competitions. Anna Svenjeby (born 26 April 1962) is a Swedish retired football player who played as a midfielder for Kronängs IF and Jitex BK in the Swedish Championship in the late 1970s and 1980s. She won the first edition of the ''Årets Fotbollstjej Award'', the forerunner of the Diamantbollen, in 1980, and she was a member of the Swedish national team that won the 1984 European Championship. Club career While playing for Kronängs IF in 1980, aged 18, Svenjeby won the Årets Fotbollstjej award for the best female footballer in Sweden. Gunilla Sonja Eva Axén (born 27 October 1966) is a Swedish former footballer. She played as a striker for Gideonsbergs IF and the Sweden women's national football team. Axén is employed as a development manager for the Swedish Football Association (SvFF). Club career In 1986 Axén won the ''Årets Fotbollstjej'' award, the forerunner of the Diamantbollen. That season she had also been the Swedish League's top goal-scorer with 22 goals. Lena Mari Anette Videkull (born 6 December 1962) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 111 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring 71 goals. Videkull can be seen in the Sveriges Television documentary television series '' The Other Sport'' from 2013. Club career Videkull won the Damallsvenskan championship six times in her career. She was the league's top goalscorer on a record six occasions. Elisabeth Leidinge
Elisabeth Leidinge (born 6 March 1957) is a Swedish former association football goalkeeper who won 112 caps for the Sweden women's national football team. She is nicknamed Lappen. Leidinge can be seen in the Sveriges Television documentary television series The Other Sport from 2013. International career Leidinge made her senior Sweden debut in the team's third ever match; a 1–0 defeat by Denmark in Finland on 27 July 1974. Anneli Andelén
Anneli Andelén (born 21 June 1968) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 88 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring 37 goals. She represented Sweden at the FIFA Women's World Cup in 1991 and 1995. Andelén also played professional club football in Japan with Suzuyo Shimizu F.C. Lovely Ladies. Eva Zeikfalvy (born 18 April 1967) is a Swedish former association football defender who won 69 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring two goals. She represented Sweden at the FIFA Women's World Cup in 1991 and 1995. She is nicknamed Zäta. Lilian Anette Börjesson (born 11 November 1954) is a retired female badminton player and footballer from Sweden. Badminton Börjesson is a five time women's singles champion at the Swedish National Badminton Championships and was a silver medalist at the 1980 European Badminton Championships, also in singles, as well as in mixed doubles. Guldbollen (''Golden Ball'') is a Swedish football award given by ''Aftonbladet'' and the Swedish Football Association to the best male Swedish footballer each year. History The award was created by Bengt Liljedahl and between 1946 to 1965 it was awarded in cooperation with '' Stockholms-Tidningen''. The first Guldbollen award was given in 1946 to Gunnar Gren.
