Dhani (raga)
Dhani is a pentatonic raga in Hindustani classical music. It is a sprightly raga often described as Bhimpalasi sans the notes, Dha and Re. It however has its own distinct character. Dhani is frequently heard in popular music. This raga is also known as the romantic version of Raag Malkauns. Kafi (thaat)
Kafi () is one of the ten basic thaats of Hindustani music from the Indian subcontinent. It is also the name of a raga ( Kharaharapriya) within this thaat. Description Kafi thaat makes use of the Komal Gandhara and Komal Nishad. So basically it adds Komal Gandhara to the Khamaj thaat. The Kafi raga is one of the oldest ragas and its intervals are described as the basic scale of the Natyashastra. Thus in ancient and medieval times, Kafi was considered as natural scale. Kafi is a late evening raga and said to convey the mood of springtime. ''Karnan'' () is a 1964 Indian Tamil-language Hindu mythological film produced and directed by B. R. Panthulu. It stars Sivaji Ganesan leading an ensemble cast consisting of N. T. Rama Rao, S. A. Ashokan, R. Muthuraman, Savitri, Devika and M. V. Rajamma. The film is based on the story of Karna, a character from the Hindu epic ''Mahabharata''. ''Karnan'', which was officially launched in 1963, was shot in palaces at Jaipur and the war sequences were filmed in Kurukshetra, which featured several soldiers from the Indian Army. Poonthalir () is a 1979 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Devaraj–Mohan, starring Sivakumar and Sujatha. The music was scored by Ilaiyaraaja. The film was a remake of Hindi film ''Aakhri Khat'' (1966). The film, Sivakumar's 101st as an actor, was a success. Plot Ashok (Sivakumar), an artist/sculptor, falls in love with and marries Maya, a poor Keralite woman ( Sujatha), but they become separated when Ashok leaves for a prolonged assignment in the USA. When he comes back after a few years and looks for his wife, he receives a letter from her that conveys a strange message to him and he soon finds out that she has died due to a terminal illness and that their child (master Anand)has gone missing. Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan (2 March 1935 – 8 September 2008) was an Indian classical music violinist and music composer. Early life Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan was born on 2 March 1935 and was trained by his father, Ramaswamy Sastry. He was the brother of Kunnakudi Subbalakshmi. Career The violin was his forte. He was known for his dexterity and subtlety in handling the violin, he catered not only to the music scholar but also to the layman. His play reflected his own different moods and the demands of his audience with whom he established and enjoyed a good rapport. He dwelled with ease and competence in the high as well as the low octaves.
