Dhangmari Wildlife Sanctuary ( bn, ঢাংমারী বন্যপ্রাণ অভয়ারণ্য) is a wildlife sanctuary located at Bagerhat District of Bangladesh. The area of the sanctuary is . It was officially declared as a wildlife sanctuary by the government of Bangladesh on 29 January 2012. It is one of the safe zones for vultures as per the ''Vulture Safe Zone-2 Schedule'' of the government of Bangladesh in 2012. Dhangmari wetland is one of the dolphin sanctuaries in Bangladesh. Bagerhat District ( bn, বাগেরহাট, pron: ''bageɾɦaʈ'') is a district in south-western Bangladesh. It is a part of the Khulna Division. Geography Bagerhat district has a total area of 3959.11 square kilometres. It is bounded by Gopalganj District and Narail District on the north, The Bay of Bengal on the south, Gopalganj District, Pirojpur District and Barguna District on the east and Khulna District on the west. Vulture
A vulture is a bird of prey that scavenges on carrion. There are 23 extant species of vulture (including Condors). Old World vultures include 16 living species native to Europe, Africa, and Asia; New World vultures are restricted to North and South America and consist of seven identified species, all belonging to the Cathartidae family. A particular characteristic of many vultures is a bald, unfeathered head. This bare skin is thought to keep the head clean when feeding, and also plays an important role in thermoregulation.
