Dhaka Metropolis
The Dhaka Metropolis cricket team is a Bangladeshi first-class cricket team based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The team competes in the National Cricket League. Dhaka Metropolis played in the 2000-01 season, playing most of its home games at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. When the National Cricket League was expanded from six teams to eight in 2011-12, Dhaka Metropolis returned, along with the newly formed Rangpur Division team. Since then Dhaka Metropolis has had no settled home ground, playing its home matches at several grounds in the Dhaka area. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. Al Sahariar
Mohammad Al-Sahariar (born April 23, 1978), also known as Al-Sahariar Rokon and Al Sahariar, is a Bangladeshi Test and one-day cricketer. Al Sahariar scored Bangladesh's first first-class century, in their third match in the New Zealand Shell Conference in 1997–98. He was one of the original eleven Bangladeshi Test cricketers, playing in Bangladesh's inaugural Test against India in November 2000. He played 15 Tests, but patchy form led to his exclusion from the team to tour the West Indies in 2003; he played no further Tests or One-day internationals. Mohammad Rafique (cricketer)
Mohammed Rafique ( bn, মোহাম্মদ রফিক), born 5 September 1970 was a Bangladeshi cricket coach and former cricketer. He was the first Bangladeshi bowler to take 100 wickets in Test matches. Rafique is known his contribution to the cricket world with positions in both the World XI for the Super Series against Australia in 2005 and the Asia XI for the exhibition series against Africa XI in 2007. He was named captain of Bangladesh Legends cricket team in 2020-21 Road Safety World Series. Mohammad Ashraful
Mohammad Ashraful ( bn, মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুল; born 7 July 1984) is a Bangladeshi cricketer, who has represented the Bangladesh national cricket team, captaining the team in all formats of the game. A top-order batsman with a penchant for flashy stroke-play, Ashraful became the youngest cricketer to make a hundred in Test cricket, on his debut as a 17 year old in 2001, against Sri Lanka. Mehrab Hossain ( bn, মেহরাব হোসেন; born 22 September 1978) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who played in nine Test matches and 18 One Day Internationals from 1998 to 2003. By scoring 101 against Zimbabwe at Bangabandhu National Stadium at Dhaka in 1999, he became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score a century in ODIs. Manjural (sometimes Monjural) Islam (born 7 November 1979) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who played in 17 Test matches and 34 One Day Internationals from 1999 to 2004. He is a left-arm seam bowler. Khaled Mashud, popularly known as Khaled Mashud Pilot ( bn, খালেদ মাসুদ; born 8 February 1976) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer and a captain in Tests and ODIs. A wicketkeeper and middle order batsman, he was a regular member of the national team between 1995 and 2007. Bangladeshi coach Dav Whatmore claimed Mashud as the "best wicketkeeper in Asia." Mohammad Hasibul Hossain ( bn, মোহাম্মদ হাসিবুল হোসেন) (born 3 June 1977), known as Hasibul Hossain, played five Tests (2000–01) and 32 One-Day Internationals (1995–2004) for Bangladesh. Habibul Bashar
Qazi Habibul Bashar ( bn, কাজী হাবিবুল বাশার; born 17 August 1972) is a retired Bangladeshi cricketer and the former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team. Under the managership of Dav Whatmore, he has been found to be the most successful captain to lead the Bangladesh team to overcome several milestones. The first test victory of Bangladesh came under his hands in 2004 against Zimbabwe.
