Dhahar
Dhahar is a town in the eastern Sanaag region, and the capital of the Dhahar District. Puntland is in effective control, but Somaliland also has territorial claims. Overview The town is disputed between Somaliland and Puntland, who has significant influence in the town. In November 2009, Puntland and Somaliland forces clashed near Dhahar. In 2016 an incident occurred between the two entities in Boodda-Cad, a remote settlement 30km west of Dhahar. According to Somaliland MP, Baar Said, the skirmishes took place away from Dhahar. A Somaliland Armed Forces base is present in the town where the 93rd division is positioned. In January 2018, Gamal Mohamed Hassan, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (Somalia), Minister of Planning and International Cooperation visited Dhahar, as well as the city of Badhan, Sanaag, Badhan in the Sanaag region along with Puntland officials. Dhahar District
Dhahar District ( so, Degmada Dhahar) is an administrative district in the Sanaag region. In the administrative divisions of Somaliland, it is a C-class district according to the 2019 Local Government Law. In the administrative division of Puntland, the district is the capital of the Haylan region. Recent History In April 2012, Somaliland forces in Dhahar district paid their soldiers' salaries in Somaliland shillings for the first time, having previously been paid in Somali shillings. In July 2015, a knowledge contest was held in Dhahar City with representatives from six areas of Dhahar District, with Horseed area taking first place, Hodman area taking second place, and New Dhahar area taking third place. Badhan, Sanaag
Badhan ( so, Badhan; ar, برن), also known as Baran is a city in the Sanaag region of Somaliland. Overview It was always in danger of flooding during the raining seasons. In 1971, the town was re-located near a borewell called Badhan and it has assumed the name ever since. The area was first settled in the 14th century by Somali herdsmen from the Warsangali subclan of the Darod clan, as there was water available for their flocks. Badhan is also famous for being the stage of battles between the Dervishes of Mohammed Abdullah Hassan and the Sultanate of Warsangeli. Hassan, the leader of Dervishes, ordered the construction of a new grand fort in the city. Nowadays, the fort is in need of restoration, as time has worn it down. Somaliland Armed Forces
The Somaliland National Armed Forces ( so, Ciidamada Qalabka Sida ee Soomaaliland; ar, القوات المسلحة الصوماليلاندية, alquaat almusalahat alsuwmalilandia) are the military services of Republic of Somaliland.
