Deyi Secondary School
Deyi Secondary School is a co-educational government secondary school located in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. Founded in January 1980, having 1200~ pupils. the school is remarked for its niche development in performing arts. An Aesthetics Development Programme (ADP) forms part of the niche development, which resulted the Direct School Admission (DSA) status. This allows students, both local and abroad, talented in performing arts to be admitted into the school. All lower secondary students have drama and dance modules woven into the curriculum. There is a Talent Development programme leading to accreditation for performing arts students in collaboration with reputable institutions. History The school first began operations in January 1980 as Teck Ghee Secondary School, with about 1,700 students. Ang Mo Kio is a planning area and residential town situated in the North-East of Singapore. Hanyu Pinyin (), often shortened to just pinyin, is the official romanization system for Standard Chinese, Standard Mandarin Chinese in China, and to some extent, in Singapore and Malaysia. Tharman Shanmugaratnam (Tamil: தர்மன் சண்முகரத்தினம்; born 25 February 1957) is a Singaporean politician and economist who has been serving as Senior Minister of Singapore since 2019 and has also been Coordinating Minister for Social Policies since 2015 and also chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore since 2011. In Singapore, a co-curricular activity (CCA), previously known as an extracurricular activity (ECA), is a non-academic activity that all students must undertake as part of their education. Introduced by the Ministry of Education (MOE), CCAs are strongly encouraged at the primary and post-secondary level but compulsory at secondary level. Students can choose from 4 categories: clubs and societies, physical sports, uniformed groups, and visual and performing arts. They may also start their own activities with the school’s approval.
