Dewanatron
Dewanatron is a family of experimental electronic instruments. Cousins Brian Dewan and Leon Dewan collaborate on the creation and performance of these instruments. The instruments have been performed and exhibited at thPierogi 2000gallery in Brooklyn in January 2006, Pierogi Leipzig (searchived photo (Germany) from April thru July 2006 and aANOTHER YEAR IN LAgallery as well as The Steve Allen Theater in Los Angeles in August/September, 2007 and May 31, 2009 at the Ghetto Gloss Gallery. Swarmatron
The Swarmatron is an analogue synthesizer developed by Dewanatron, consisting of cousins Brian and Leon Dewan. Hand-made by the Dewans, it has eight oscillators controlled by a single ribbon controller. The oscillators are linked through a 'swarm' control, giving it a distinctive sound that flows in and out of unison, comparable to the noise a swarm of bees produces. Dewanatron sell their Swarmatron through Big City Music of Los Angeles. As of March 2016, only 83 have been produced. About The distinctive feature of the Swarmatron is its use of eight individual oscillators controlled monophonically, switchable between sine and sawtooth waves. These oscillators produce an equidistant chord, where their spacing is under the player's immediate control. The oscillators may be switched on and off individually by a row of switches. Leon Dewan
Leon Dewan is an American artist, inventor, and musician. He collaborates with Brian Dewan on Dewanatron, an electronic music instrument project. The son of an inventor, Dewan received a degree in physics from Yale University in 1989. His musical career draws on this background in physics, and heavily incorporates electronic and experimental instruments. Dewan resides in New Rochelle, in Westchester County, New York. Music Leon Dewan has performed and recorded music with several bands spanning over a decade. Bands include Radeesh, The Happiest Guys in the World, Shaumgummi, Dangerspoon, Flaming Fire, and collaborative work with The Philistines Jr. Dewan sings and plays a variety electronic instruments including electric guitar, the Theremin, and Dewanatron instruments. Brian Dewan
Brian Dewan (born 14 June 1963) is an American multi-media artist, who produces music, audio-visual performances, decorative painting, furniture, poetry, filmstrips, illustrations, and musical instruments. He has released three albums of songs and performed extensively in clubs and concert halls as a solo artist and as a member of various ensembles. He lives in Catskill, New York. Brian is the brother of artist Ted Dewan and the cousin of musical instrument builder/musician Leon Dewan. Music Dewan has a cross-genre approach to music, although he is predominantly known for his folk-tinged vocal stylings and instrumental electronic music, which on a performance level are generally mutually exclusive. His vocal repertoire references folk music, hymns, popular songs from bygone eras (especially topical songs from the 19th and early 20th centuries), and rock music. The Steve Allen Theater
The Steve Allen Theater at the Center for Inquiry in Hollywood, California, was a 99-seat theater which was developed by founding artistic director Amit Itelman. Moved to The Carl Sagan & Ann Druyan Theater. The Center for Inquiry is a nonprofit group founded by Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov to promote science and secular humanism. The Bob Moog Memorial Foundation was created after the death of Dr. Robert Moog in 2005, and officially launched in August, 2006. His family established the foundation to honor the legacy of Moog "through its mission of igniting creativity at the intersection of music, history, science, and innovation."
