Devour (Dave Hause Album)
''Devour'' is the second solo album from Dave Hause of The Loved Ones (American band), The Loved Ones. It was released on October 8, 2013 by Rise Records. The album was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders from mid-February to mid-March 2013. Musicians include bassist Bob Thomson of Big Drill Car, drummer David Hidalgo Jr. of Social Distortion and keyboardist Bo Koster of My Morning Jacket. The album also features appearances by Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio and The Watson Twins. The first song premiered from the album was "We Could Be Kings", which was released for streaming at Rolling Stone, RollingStone.com on July 12, 2013. The second song available for streaming was "The Shine", which was released on August 26, 2013. Dave Hause
Dave Hause (born March 12, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter. He currently performs both solo and with his band The Mermaid. His music draws from heartland rock, folk rock and punk rock. He has also played in multiple Philadelphia, PA area punk and hardcore bands, including The Loved Ones and The Falcon. Music and career 1990 to 2003: Early years and The Curse In the mid-90s, Hause played guitar in a Philadelphia-based hardcore/punk band called Step Ahead, who released one album. After they broke up, Hause and Brendan Hill, the drummer from Step Ahead, formed The Curse. The Curse, which featured Hause on guitar and sharing vocals, released two songs on the four-way split album '' The Philadelphia Sound'' and released a six-track EP on Hell Bent Records before playing their last show on April 12, 2003 opening for Kid Dynamite. Social Distortion
Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards). Starting as a hardcore punk band in the late 1970s to the early 1980s, Social Distortion went on a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s, due to Ness's drug addiction and troubles with the law which resulted in extended stints in various rehabilitation centers that lasted for two years. Following their reformation, the band has shifted its style to a country, blues and early rock and roll-influenced style of punk. The Watson Twins
The Watson Twins are an American alternative country band based in Los Angeles, formed by identical twin sisters Chandra and Leigh Watson. Biography Chandra and Leigh were born on March 28, 1975, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. They attended the University of Evansville then moved to the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California in 1997, where they were founding members of Slydell. They also began writing their own music and performing with other local musicians. In 2006, the Watson Twins released their debut EP, ''Southern Manners'', simultaneously with ''Rabbit Fur Coat'', their collaboration with singer-songwriter Jenny Lewis. Alkaline Trio
Alkaline Trio is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Matt Skiba (vocals, guitar), Dan Andriano (vocals, bass) and Derek Grant (drums, vocals). Founded in late 1996 by Skiba, bassist Rob Doran, and drummer Glenn Porter, Alkaline Trio released its debut single, "Sundials", in 1997. Following its release, Doran departed from the band and was replaced by Andriano. The band subsequently recorded an EP, ''For Your Lungs Only'' (1998), and its debut studio album, ''Goddamnit'' (1998). Frightened Rabbit
Frightened Rabbit were a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. Initially a solo project for vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison, the final lineup of the band consisted of Hutchison, his brother Grant (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar). From 2004, the band were based in Glasgow. Frightened Rabbit's first studio album, ''Sing the Greys'', was recorded by the Hutchison brothers and Billy Kennedy, released on independent label Hits the Fan in 2006. My Morning Jacket is an American rock band formed in Louisville, Kentucky in 1998. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, drummer Patrick Hallahan, guitarist Carl Broemel, and keyboardist Bo Koster. The band's sound, rooted in rock and country, is often experimental and psychedelic. The group amassed a following beginning in the 2000s in part due to their live performances. Big Drill Car
Big Drill Car is a punk rock group from Costa Mesa, California, formed in 1987. While the group never gained a mainstream audience, they provided an influence on their contemporaries – most notably ALL, Chemical People and Dag Nasty – alongside they are considered early pioneers of melodic hardcore. Big Drill Car released an EP, ''Small Block'', in 1988 before being signed to Cruz Records (owned by former Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn) and releasing two studio albums. The band eventually parted ways with that label and signed to Headhunter Records, who released '' No Worse for the Wear'', the band's last album to date.
