Devon Key
Devon Key (born October 28, 1997) is an American football safety for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Western Kentucky and was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft. Early life and education Devon Key was born on October 28, 1997, in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended Bryan Station High School there, playing on offense and defense. He was rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com, 247sports.com, and Scout.com. Following his senior year of high school Key accepted a scholarship offer from Western Kentucky University, spending his first year of 2016 as a redshirt. As a redshirt-freshman the following year, Key was starting safety to begin the season, making 94 tackles (44 solo, 50 assisted) to rank second on his team and 16th in the conference. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. The defensive responsibilities of the safety and cornerback usually involve pass coverage towards the middle and sidelines of the field. Dane Key (born July 1, 2003) is an American football wide receiver for the Kentucky Wildcats. Early life and high school Key grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and attended Frederick Douglass High School. As a senior, he caught 53 passes for 959 yards and nine touchdowns and won the Paul Hornung Award as the best high school football player in Kentucky. Key committed to play college football at Kentucky over offers from Michigan, Oregon, South Carolina, and Western Kentucky. College career Key joined the Kentucky Wildcats as an early enrollee. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players.
