DevilDriver is an American heavy metal band from Santa Barbara, California, formed in 2002, consisting of vocalist Dez Fafara, lead guitarist Mike Spreitzer, drummer Davier Pérez, bassist Jon Miller and rhythm guitarist Alex Lee. The band was originally named Deathride, however, due to copyright issues and the name being taken by several bands, the band changed its name to DevilDriver. Mike Spreitzer
Michael Colin Spreitzer (born February 10, 1981) is an American musician, producer, mixing engineer, and the lead guitarist of heavy metal band DevilDriver. He is the second-longest lasting member following the departures of all original members except vocalist Dez Fafara. He replaced original lead guitarist Evan Pitts in 2004. Dez Fafara
Bradley James "Dez" Fafara (born May 12, 1966) is an American heavy metal vocalist who performs in the bands DevilDriver and Coal Chamber. Early life Fafara is of Portuguese and Sicilian descent. His father, Tiger Fafara, and his late uncle, Stanley Fafara, were child actors on the '' Leave It to Beaver'' television sitcom. He has had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder his whole life. Fafara adopted the nickname "Dez" in honor of Dez Cadena, vocalist and guitarist for Black Flag and an early influence on Fafara. Career Coal Chamber Fafara released a total of 5 albums with Coal Chamber. The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand
''The Fury of Our Maker's Hand'' is the second studio album by American heavy metal band DevilDriver, released on June 28, 2005. It's the first DevilDriver album to feature guitarist Mike Spreitzer. The album entered the Billboard charts at number 117, with sales of 10,402. A special edition of the album was released on October 31, 2006. It contained six bonus tracks and an additional DVD with the band's four music videos. A music video was produced for the song "Hold Back the Day", which found airplay on MTV2's ''Headbangers Ball''. It featured stylistic elements, primarily background visuals such as a female mannequin head, highly reminiscent of Black Sabbath's video for " Paranoid". The song "Driving Down the Darkness" was featured in the fifteenth episode of the sixth season of '' Scrubs''. Coal Chamber
Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles, California in 1993. Prior to Coal Chamber, the two had also created the band She's in Pain, in 1992. The original lineup also consisted of bassist Rayna Foss and drummer Jon Tor. Mike Cox replaced Tor on drums shortly afterwards, and thus the Coal Chamber lineup was complete. After signing to Roadrunner Records, they released their debut album, '' Coal Chamber'', in 1997. ''Chamber Music'' followed two years later and featured the band's only charting single in the US, "Shock the Monkey". Their third album, '' Dark Days'', was released in the spring of 2002. ''DevilDriver'' is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band DevilDriver, the new band of former Coal Chamber singer Dez Fafara. In comparison to the other albums by DevilDriver, it is musically simpler, and Fafara sings in a different style. The album's cover art features the Cross of Confusion, the band's logo. Music videos were produced for "Nothing's Wrong?" and "I Could Care Less," the singles released off of the album, and found extensive airplay on programs such as ''Headbangers Ball'' and ''Uranium''. Neal Tiemann
Neal Tiemann (born December 22, 1982) is an American musician, currently the lead guitarist and songwriter of the rock band the Midwest Kings (MWK). He is a former rhythm guitarist for heavy metal band DevilDriver, and served as the lead guitarist for David Cook's band The Anthemic from 2008 to 2011. He spent most of 2009 on the Declaration Tour with Cook and served as the tour's music director. Tiemann played guitar on Cook's major label debut album '' David Cook'' (2008) as well as his independently released '' Analog Heart'' (2006). He has also played on Burn Halo's 2009 '' self-titled album'' and Bryan Jewett's album ''A Brief Look at the New You''. Groove Metal
Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Unlike thrash metal, groove metal is usually slower and also uses elements of traditional heavy metal. Pantera are often considered the pioneers of groove metal, and groove metal expanded in the 1990s with bands like White Zombie, Machine Head, and Sepultura.
