Pierre Chenal
Pierre Chenal (; 5 December 1904 – 23 December 1990) was a French director and screenwriter who flourished in the 1930s. He was married to Czech-born French film actress Florence Marly from 1937 to 1955. Work Chenal was best known for film noir thrillers such as the 1937 film '' L'Alibi'', where he worked with Erich von Stroheim and Louis Jouvet. In 1939 he made ''Le Dernier Tournant'', the first of many film treatments of James M. Cain's celebrated novel, '' The Postman Always Rings Twice''. Chenal was Jewish and was forced in 1942 to flee occupied France with his wife, Czech actress Florence Marly, for South America. Line Renaud (born 2 July 1928) is a French singer, actress and AIDS activist. Early life Line Renaud was born Jacqueline Ente in Pont-de-Nieppe on 2 July 1928. Her mother Simone was a shorthand typist; her father was a truck driver during the week, but he played the trumpet on weekends, in a local brass band. Line showed the first signs of her talent in primary school, when at the age of seven she won an amateur competition. During the Second World War, Jacqueline's father was mobilised, spending five years away from the family. During this time, Jacqueline was brought up by her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandmother had a café in Armentières, where she used to sing for passing soldiers. Howard Vernon (15 July 1908 – 25 July 1996) was a Swiss actor. In 1961, he became a favorite actor of Spanish film director Jesús Franco and began starring in many low-budget horror and erotic films produced in Spain and France. Georges Vitray (1888–1960) was a French film actor.Crisp p.155 Biography Georges Victor Leporcher was born in Paris, France to Constant Leporcher and Victorine Victoire Bricier. Georges took the name Vitray as a stage name. Georges' mother was born in Bréal-sous-Vitré. He participated in 46 French films ( with the exception of two co-productions with Germany and Italy in 1954 ) from 1931 to 1958 as well as a TV movie in 1959. He also played in the theater.
