Ilam district ( ne, इलाम जिल्ला) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal. It is a Hill district and covers . The 2011 census counted 290,254 population. Ramola Devi Shah, better known as Chhinnalata (; 1923–2000) was a Nepalese writer and poetess.
