Development, Concepts And Doctrine Centre
The Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) is the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defence’s (MOD's) think tank. History The DCDC, originally called the Joint Doctrine and Concepts Centre (JDCC), was established as a result of the 1998 Strategic Defence Review. The UK recognised that it needed to have a clearer long-term vision of the way in which it expected it forces and their methods of operation to develop. Structure The DCDC is headed by a two-star officer, located at Shrivenham and is under the UK's Strategic Command but reports to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff (VCDS) who sets its priorities and outputs. Outputs DCDC produces many publications relating to the future global environment. It also has a Doctrine Team responsible for writing and maintaining a range of joint operational level UK and NATO doctrine publications, and Strategy, Analysis and Research and Legal Teams such as the Global Strategic Trends Programme. Jail. History The DOC was first established as an agency in 1946, when the District Jail (built 1872) was combined with the Lorton Correctional Complex. In 1999 the DCDC was paying the Virginia Department of Corrections to house 69 prisoners at the Red Onion State Prison. A prediction (Latin ''præ-'', "before," and ''dicere'', "to say"), or forecast, is a statement about a future event or data. They are often, but not always, based upon experience or knowledge. Major General Darrell Peter Amison OBE is a former British Army officer. Military career Amison was commissioned into the Royal Army Educational Corps in 1990. He served as commanding officer of 4 Logistic Support Regiment RLC in which role he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007. He went on to be Deputy Chief of Staff at Headquarters, 3rd (United Kingdom) Division in 2010, Commander of 102nd Logistic Brigade in July 2013 and Head of Concepts at the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre in September 2015 before becoming Capability Director, Combat Service Support in January 2019. Major general (Maj Gen) is a "two-star" rank in the British Army and Royal Marines. The rank was also briefly used by the Royal Air Force for a year and a half, from its creation to August 1919. In the British Army, a major general is the customary rank for the appointment of division commander. In the Royal Marines, the rank of major general is held by the Commandant General. A Major General is senior to a Brigadier but subordinate to lieutenant general. The rank is OF-7 on the NATO rank scale, equivalent to a rear admiral in the Royal Navy or an air vice-marshal in the Royal Air Force and the air forces of many Commonwealth countries. The rank insignia is the star (or 'pip') of the Order of the Bath, over a crossed sword and baton. In terms of orthography, compound ranks were invariably hyphenated, prior to about 1980. Rear Admiral John Matthew Leonard Kingwell (born 26 August 1966) is a senior Royal Navy officer. He was Commandant of the Royal College of Defence Studies from 2019 to 2020. Naval career Kingwell joined the Royal Navy in 1984. He served as commanding officer successively of the patrol boat HMS ''Pursuer'', the frigate HMS ''Argyll'' and the amphibious transport dock HMS ''Albion''. He went on to be Commander United Kingdom Task Group in January 2011 and in that role commanded the task group off Libya. Vice Admiral Paul Martin Bennett, is a former senior Royal Navy officer. Naval career Educated at Newcastle University, Bennett joined the Royal Navy in 1985. Lieutenant General Sir Paul Raymond Newton is a former British Army officer and Director of Exeter University's Strategy and Security Institute. Prior to leaving the army he was Commander Force Development and Training. Air Vice-marshal
Air vice-marshal (AVM) is a two-star air officer rank which originated in and continues to be used by the Royal Air Force. The rank is also used by the air forces of many countries which have historical British influence and it is sometimes used as the English translation of an equivalent rank in countries which have a non-English air force-specific rank structure. Air vice-marshal is a two-star rank and has a NATO ranking code of OF-7. It is equivalent to a rear-admiral in the Royal Navy or a major-general in the British Army or the Royal Marines.
