Deux (band)
Deux () was a South Korean K-pop duo from the early 1990s, who were among the first to incorporate hip hop into Korean music. History Deux members Lee Hyun Do and Kim Sung-jae met when they worked as back-up dancers for Korean rapper Hyun Jin-young. Kim Sung-jae (Hangul: 김성재; Hanja: 金成宰; April 18, 1972 – November 20, 1995) was a South Korean singer, rapper, dancer, and model, best known as a member of Deux, an influential early K-pop and Korean hip hop group that rose to fame in the early 1990s. Sungjae died of an apparent murder in 1995 at the age of 23. His girlfriend was convicted of his murder and sentenced to life in prison but was later acquitted on appeal. In 2019, Sungjae's girlfriend filed multiple injunctions to block SBS's investigative program, ''I Want To Know'', from airing an episode covering Sungjae's death. ''Inkigayo'' ( ko, 인기가요; English title: ''The Music Trend'', previously ''Popular Song'') is a South Korean music program broadcast by SBS. It airs live every Sunday. 2004 Mnet Km Music Video Festival
The 2004 Mnet KM Music Video Festival (MKMF) was the sixth of the annual music awards in Seoul, South Korea, that took place on December 4, 2004, at the Kyung Hee University. Solo artists Rain (entertainer), Rain and BoA lead the nominees with three nominations each. Although each of them received the daesang awards, boyband Shinhwa was the only artist/group to receive two awards by the end of the ceremony. Background The award ceremony, previously known as the Mnet Music Video Festival, merged with the KMTV Korean Music Awards and was renamed accordingly. The grand awards (or daesang) were Best Popular Music Video and Music Video of the Year. Winner (; romanized: ''wineo''; stylized in all caps), is a South Korean boy band consisting of four members: Jinu, Hoony, Mino and Seungyoon. The band was formed in 2013 by YG Entertainment through Mnet's survival program ''WIN: Who Is Next'' leading to their official debut on August 17, 2014, with studio album '' 2014 S/S''. New Jack Swing
New jack swing, new jack, or swingbeat is a fusion genre of the rhythms and production techniques of hip hop and dance-pop, and the urban contemporary sound of R&B. Spearheaded by producers Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle, new jack swing was most popular from the late-1980s to early-1990s. Its influence, along with hip hop, seeped into pop culture. Merriam-Webster's online dictionary defines new jack swing as "pop music usually performed by black musicians that combines elements of jazz, funk, rap, and rhythm and blues." New jack swing took up the trend of using sampled beats and tunes, and created beats using electronic drum machines such as the then-new SP-1200 sampler and the Roland TR-808 to lay an "insistent beat under light melody lines and clearly enunciated vocals." The Roland TR-808 was sampled to create distinctive, syncopated, swung rhythms, with its snare sound being especially prominent.
