Deutschland-Cup (football)
The Deutschland-Cup was a one-off football competition played in November 1990, to celebrate German reunification. The match was played one week after the dissolution of the Deutscher Fußball-Verband der DDR, East German Football Association and its merger with the German Football Association, and featured the reigning champions of East Germany, East and West Germany, Dynamo Dresden and FC Bayern Munich, Bayern Munich respectively. The match, which was played at the Stadion Dresden, Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion in Dresden, was won 1–0 by Dynamo. Match Details Similar matches A similar match was held on 22 August 1990 to celebrate German reunification. The match featured the reigning cup winners of East and West Germany, Dynamo Dresden and 1. FC Kaiserslautern, respectively. Sven Ratke
Sven Ratke (born 3 January 1972 in Görlitz) is a German former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Career Ratke began his career with Dynamo Dresden, making his debut in the 1989–90 season, in which the club won the League and Cup double, with Ratke coming on as a substitute for Matthias Döschner in the cup final. After reunification, Dynamo qualified for the Bundesliga, where they played for four seasons, and Ratke played in each one, a total of 48 appearances (one goal). After Dynamo's relegation in 1995, Ratke left the club, joining ambitious Hamburg club SV Lurup, where he spent half a season before signing for VfL Wolfsburg of the 2. Bundesliga. Sven Kmetsch
Sven Kmetsch (born 13 August 1970) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He is the assistant manager of Schalke 04 II. Club career Kmetsch was born in Bautzen, Saxony. Including his youth career, he spent 14 years at Dynamo Dresden, winning the double in his penultimate season before German reunification, with one of his midfield teammates being Matthias Sammer. After combining East and West German football in the summer of 1991, he would play with the team four consecutive years in the Bundesliga, his competition debut coming on 14 September 1991, in a 3–0 home win against SG Wattenscheid 09. Matthias Maucksch
Matthias Maucksch (born 11 June 1969) is a German former footballer who played as midfielder or defender and worked as a manager in different Teams of Germanys 4th and 3rd leagues. Playing career Maucksch came through the youth system at Dynamo Dresden, and made his debut in the DDR-Oberliga in 1987. He stayed with Dynamo after reunification, and played in the Bundesliga for four seasons, his 118 appearances the club record at this level. After Dynamo's double relegation in 1995, he joined 2. Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, where he remained for two years, leaving after their promotion to the Bundesliga. After one year back in Saxony with VfB Leipzig, he returned to the Bundesliga with 1. Andreas Trautmann
Andreas Trautmann (born 21 May 1959) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Trautmann spent much of his career with Dynamo Dresden, for whom he played 270 games in the DDR-Oberliga (the third most for the club, behind Hans-Jürgen Dörner and Reinhard Häfner, respectively). During this time he earned 14 caps for East Germany, and won the silver medal at the 1980 Olympics. After reunification, Trautmann moved west, joining Fortuna Köln alongside teammates Matthias Döschner and Hans-Uwe Pilz, but it did not work out, and he was back at Dynamo Dresden within six months. He played out his career across town with Dresdner SC, before retiring in 1994. Hans-Uwe Pilz (born 10 November 1958) is a German former footballer. He began his career with BSG Sachsenring Zwickau before joining Dynamo Dresden during the winter break of the 1981–82 season. He remained at Dynamo until German reunification when he moved west, following teammates Matthias Döschner and Andreas Trautmann to Fortuna Köln. However, he returned to Dynamo after a few months, and would play for the club until 1995, including four years in the Bundesliga. After the club suffered a double relegation in 1995, Pilz returned to FSV Zwickau, before retiring in 1997. He later had two brief spells as manager at Zwickau.
