Deutscher Dirigentenpreis
The German Conducting Award (GCA) (formerly Deutscher Dirigentenpreis) is an international competition for concert and opera conducting and serves to promote young conductors of all nations who are younger than 33 years of age. History of the prize The German Conducting Award is organised by the Deutscher Musikrat (Bonn) in partnership with the Kölner Philharmonie, the Cologne Opera, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the WDR Symphony Orchestra. As a cultural partner, the competition is accompanied by the West German Radio's WDR 3 culture wave. The prize was first awarded in 1995 as the Prize of thForum Dirigierento outstanding scholarship holders of the support programme. It was awarded internationally for the first time in 2017 and is held every two years. A unique selling point is the inclusion of the genres of opera and concert in the repertoire. Marc Piollet
Marc Piollet (born 1962) is a French conductor. After positions at the Staatstheater Kassel and Volksoper in Vienna, he was Generalmusikdirektor (GMD) at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2004 to 2012. Career Born in Paris, Piollet studied at the Berlin University of the Arts, conducting with Hans-Martin Rabenstein and choral conducting with Christian Grube. He attended master classes with John Eliot Gardiner, Michael Gielen, Kurt Masur and Lothar Zagrosek. After his studies he was employed as First Kapellmeister at the Philharmonic State Orchestra Halle and at the Staatstheater Kassel, where he was also deputy music director. Subsequently he received an engagement at the Vienna Volksoper from 2003 to 2005. Kristiina Poska
Kristiina Poska (born 12 July 1978, Türi, Estonia) is an Estonian conductor. Biography At age eight, Poska began piano lessons. She graduated from Türi Music School in piano studies in 1994, and then studied choral conducting at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music College from 1994 to 1998. She continued her choral conducting studies in 2002 at Eesti Muusikaakadeemia (the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre). She subsequently moved to Berlin, where she studied at the Universität der Künste (Berlin University of the Arts) with Kai-Uwe Jirka and Jörg-Peter Weigle. From 2004 to 2009, she studied orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" with Christian Ehwald. In the spring of 2008, she received a scholarship from the Conductors Forum at the German Music Council, where her conducting mentors included Peter Gülke, Reinhard Goebel, and Eri Klas. Markus Poschner (born 1971, Munich) is a German conductor and pianist. Biography Poschner studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Hermann Michael.
