Deuteren
Deuteren is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch, about 2 km west of the city centre. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, this hamlet was the location of the first Reformed preaching in the area in 1566, by Cornelis van Diest. In the siege of 's-Hertogenbosch in 1629, Deuteren was the location of the headquarters of colonel Pinsen. The hamlet suffered a lot of damage in the year 1757 by high water and ice shelves. Formerly, the hamlet was divided into two parts: Groot-Deuteren (the current hamlet) and Klein-Deuteren, about 1 km to the northeast. The latter part had shrunk to only one house in the middle of the 19th century; nowadays, a suburb of 's-Hertogenbosch covers the area of Klein-Deuteren. 's-Hertogenbosch
s-Hertogenbosch (), colloquially known as Den Bosch (), is a city and municipality in the Netherlands with a population of 157,486. It is the capital of the province of North Brabant and its fourth largest by population. The city is south of the Maas river and near the Waal; it is to the north east of the city of Tilburg, north west of Eindhoven, south west of Nijmegen, and a longer distance south of Utrecht and south east of Dordrecht. History The city's official name is a contraction of the (archaic) Dutch ''des Hertogen bosch'' — "the forest of the duke". The duke in question was Henry I of Brabant, whose family had owned a large estate at nearby Orthen for at least four centuries. Cromvoirt
Cromvoirt is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Vught. History The village was first mentioned in 1312 as Crumvoert, and means "crooked fordable place". The Catholic St Lambertus Church was built in 1888. In 1891, the tower was constructed next to the church. The tower was blown up by the Germans in 1944, and only partially restored. Cromvoirt was home to 393 people in 1840. Cromvoirt was a separate municipality until 1933, when it was merged with Vught. North Brabant ( nl, Noord-Brabant ; Brabantian: ; ), also unofficially called Brabant, is a province in the south of the Netherlands.
