Det Nye Teater
Det Nye Teater was a theatre that opened in Oslo in 1929, and ended as an independent theatre in 1959, when it merged with Folketeatret to form Oslo Nye Teater. The theatre's original purpose was to support contemporary Norwegian drama. History The company A/S Det Nye Teater was founded in 1918, by Johan Bojer and Peter Egge. Among the largest financial supporters were ship owner Ivar An Christensen, and also the Norwegian State bought a significant number of shares. The theatre building was designed by the architects Blakstad and Dunker. The theatre's first artistic director was Ingolf Schanche, from 1928 to 1931. The theatre opened on 26 to 28 February 1929, with Knut Hamsun's trilogy, ''Ved rigets port'', ''Livets spil'' and ''Aftenrøde'', followed by Peter Egge's play ''Kjærlighet og venskap''. Wenche Foss
Eva Wenche Steenfeldt Stang (5 December 1917 – 28 March 2011), better known as Wenche Foss (), was a leading Norwegian actress of stage, screen and television. Personal life Wenche Foss was born to engineer Christian August Steenfeldt-Foss (1878–1960) and Alfhild Røren. Foss grew up with an atheist mother and a devout Christian father; she inherited both views but has stated: "I could not fall asleep without the prayer". Her first marriage was to engineer and film producer Alf Scott-Hansen (1903–1961), a son of port director Alf Scott-Hansen, but the marriage was dissolved. Georg Løkkeberg (20 November 1909 – 19 August 1986) was a Norwegian actor and theatre director. He appeared in 29 films between 1934 and 1978. Tore Segelcke
Tore Dyveke Segelcke (23 April 1901 – 22 September 1979) was a Norwegian actress. Biography Tore Løkkeberg was born at Fredrikstad in Østfold, Norway. Her parents were Georg Løkkeberg (1872–1951) and Hulda Marie Hansen (1878–1941). She was the sister of actor Georg Løkkeberg (1909–1986). She made her debut in 1921 touring with Det Norske Teatret where she was based until 1924. From then on she worked with Det Frie Teater, and then joined the Den Nationale Scene. In 1928 she went to Nationaltheatret, where she stayed until 1972, apart from two years (1933-35) at Det Nye Teater. Harald Steen
Harald Steen (April 2, 1886 – April 18, 1941) was a Norwegian tenor and actor. Steen debuted at the National Theater in Oslo in 1902 and remained there until 1908. He was engaged with the Central Theater from 1908 to 1927. With his spirited mood, smooth characterization, and excellent voice, he was a key actor for much of the theater's repertoire of comedies, operettas, and operas. Alfred Maurstad
Alfred Jentoft Maurstad (26 July 1896 – 5 September 1967) was a Norwegian actor, movie director and theatre manager. Biography Alfred Jentoft Maurstad was born at Bryggja in Davik (now Vågsøy) in Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He was the son of Brynnel Maurstad (1859–1943) and Lovise Marie Brølos (1867–1943). Maurstad attended a military academy in Bergen (''Bergenske Brigades Underoffiserskole''). During his teenage years he performed in several concerts in the district of Nordfjord, playing on his Hardanger fiddle. He moved to Kristiania and debuted in 1921 at Det Norske Teatret. Harald Stormoen
Harald Stormoen (8 September 1872 – 14 November 1937) was a Norwegian actor. Personal life Stormoen was born in Nord-Odal as a son of farmer Marius Stormoen. He was a half-brother of Hans Stormoen, an uncle of Kjell Stormoen and a granduncle of Even Stormoen. By education, Stormoen had the examen artium from 1890 as well as one year at the Norwegian Military Academy. From October 1900 to 1909 he was married to Inga Bjørnson (1871–1952); they had the child Guri Stormoen who became an actress. In July 1909 Harald Stormoen married Alfhild Larsen (1883–1974). Hauk Erlendssøn Aabel (21 April 1869 – 12 December 1961) was a popular Norwegian comedian and actor in Norwegian and Swedish silent film. Career Aabel made his début on stage on 11 October 1897 at the Christiania Theatre in Oslo, and was a prominent actor in the Norwegian theatre. In 1917, he began appearing in silent films in Sweden. He then returned to Norway in 1927, where he worked in many films, including several after the advent of sound. He made his last film in 1939, aged 72.
