Destineer
Destineer, Inc. was an American umbrella company covering a holding company, a video game publisher, and a video game developer that was based in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The company was founded by Peter Tamte, former executive vice-president of Bungie, in 2001. It developed some original titles and also ported games from Windows to Macs under a number of different brands, including MacSoft and Bold Games. In May 2011, the company silently shut down, together with all of its divisions and subsidiaries. MacSoft
MacSoft was an American video game developer and publisher founded in 1993 by Peter Tamte as subsidiary of WizardWorks, specializing in the production of video game ports from Microsoft Windows to Macintosh operating systems, as well as productivity software. In 1996, WizardWorks was acquired by GT Interactive (later renamed Infogrames, Inc.), with WizardWorks and MacSoft split into different operationals. On January 30, 2003, MacSoft was acquired by Destineer, and founder Peter Tamte again became the company's director. Atomic Games, Inc. was an American video game developer based in Austin, Texas, specializing in wargames. The company was founded by Keith Zabalaoui in 1989, and is best known for developing the ''Close Combat'' series of real-time wargames, as well as the '' V for Victory'' series. In December 2000, due to the cancellation of a project titled ''Hammer's Slammers'', Atomic Games laid off its entire staff, only keeping three executives. Atomic Games was acquired by Destineer on May 6, 2005, while collaborating on ''Close Combat: Red Phoenix'' and '' Close Combat: First to Fight''. Atomic Games was developing a third-person shooter, ''Six Days in Fallujah'', in cooperation with Konami, until the latter decided to withdraw from the project in August 2009, causing significant layoffs at Atomic Games. The game is based on the plastic figurine line Homies by American cartoonist David Gonzales, and follows ten different characters from the figurine line racing each other in a competition set up by an elderly man named Vato Wizard, who has the ability to grant wishes. ''Homie Rollerz'' was received generally negatively by critics, and has been one of the lowest-rated games on review aggregator Metacritic. is a video game for the Nintendo DS. The game was released in Japan on July 21, 2005, two days before the first ''Fullmetal Alchemist'' movie came out, and was accompanied by a PlayStation 2 release of '' Fullmetal Alchemist 3: The Girl Who Succeeded God''. ''Dual Sympathy'' was announced by Destineer on September 12, 2006, for release in North America during 2006. It had gone gold on November 27 and was released on December 12, 2006.
