Destin Damachoua
Destin Damachoua (born August 17, 1986) is a Central African-French basketball player who played for the University of New Orleans. He is also a member of the Central African Republic national basketball team. Damachoua moved to the United States after his senior year of high school in France. He originally committed to Duquesne University out of the Master's School in West Simsbury, Connecticut in 2006, but never played for the team. Instead, Damachoua played JUCO basketball for Polk Community College in Florida where he was a two-time All-Sun Coast Conference performer. In his first season with the Privateers, Damachoua played primarily off the bench, averaging 2.3 PPG. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5.
