Desmond Lim
Desmond Lim Bak Chuan ( zh, s=林睦荃, p=Lín Mùquán; born 1967) is a Singaporean politician. He was formerly the president of the opposition Singapore Justice Party (SJP), which joined forces with three other opposition parties ( SPP, NSP and PKMS) to form the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) in 2001. He became the SDA secretary-general in 2009 and SDA president in 2011 before stepping down from the position of SDA chairman after the 2020 general election. Formerly a principal engineer at telco company M1, Lim made his electoral debut in the 2001 general election when he joined a five-member SDA team to contest in Jalan Besar GRC against a five-member team from the governing People's Action Party (PAP). Lin (surname)

2013 Punggol East By-election
A by-election for the Punggol East Single Member Constituency in Singapore was held on 26 January 2013 with Lee Li Lian from the Worker's Party as the winning candidate. This followed due to the resignation of former parliamentary speaker Michael Palmer from the People's Action Party on 12 December 2012. This was the 17th by-election since the first election, and the second by-election in as many years. The Nomination Day was held on 16 January 2013, while Polling Day was on 26 January 2013. This was also returning officer, Yam Ah Mee's last stint, following his resignation from the People's Association. 1984 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 22 December 1984. President of Singapore, President Devan Nair dissolved parliament on 4 December 1984 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. Harbans Singh (Singaporean Politician)
Harbans Singh (6 March 1921 – 30 May 1998) was an educationist, administrator, scholar and the editor-in-chief of the ''Encyclopaedia of Sikhism''. He was respected for his contributions to Sikh scholarship and Punjabi literary studies and had a vital and pervasive influence in the field of religious studies, with special reference to Sikhism. The Reform Party (abbreviation: RP) is a political party in Singapore. The Reform Party is a liberal- democratic party. According to the party's constitution, it seeks to promote "political, social and economic reform; the restoration of full human rights; a fairer and just distribution of wealth with the elimination of poverty; an independently appointed judiciary and a fully elected and sovereign parliament". Kenneth Jeyaretnam
Kenneth Andrew Jeyaretnam (born 1959) is a Singaporean politician and hedge fund manager who has been serving as the secretary-general of the opposition Reform Party since 2009. He is the elder son of J. B. Jeyaretnam, a prominent opposition politician in Singapore who founded the Reform Party in 2008. A Cambridge graduate with a double first class honours degree in economics, Jeyaretnam started his career in the financial sector and has worked at Wardley, Continental Bank, Banque Indosuez and Nomura International before becoming a hedge fund manager. Koh Poh Koon ( zh, s=许宝琨, p=Xú Bǎokūn; born 1972) is a Singaporean politician and former colorectal surgeon who has been serving as Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment since 2022 and Senior Minister of State for Manpower since 2021. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Tampines Central division of Tampines GRC since 2020. Workers' Party (Singapore)
The Workers' Party (abbreviation: WP) is a major centre-left political party in Singapore and is one of the three contemporary political parties represented in Parliament, alongside the governing People's Action Party (PAP) and opposition Progress Singapore Party (PSP). It is also one of the two oldest parties active in the country, having contested every parliamentary election since 1959, the other being the PAP. Lee Li Lian (; born 19 July 1978) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the opposition Workers' Party (WP), she was the Member of Parliament for Punggol East SMC between 2013 and 2015. Lee made her political debut in the 2011 general election where she contested in Punggol East SMC but lost. Michael Palmer (politician)
Michael Anthony Palmer (born 14 July 1968) is a Singaporean lawyer and politician who served as Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore from 2011 until his resignation in 2012. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Punggol East ward of Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC between 2006 and 2011, and Punggol East SMC between 2011 and 2012.
