Deshapriya Park
Deshapriyo Park is a playground of South Kolkata, having Rashbehari Avenue on one side and Sarat Bose Road on another side. Different games like Cricket, Football, Tennis etc. are regularly played here by professional and amateur players and locals. In the playground one of the biggest Durga Puja is organized. The Priya cinema is located beside this playground. the park was shrinking day by day. Firstly it was encroached by a club and then a public toilet and a restaurant. Bonani Kakkar, a green activist reacted– "Deshapriyo Park has been grabbed several times in the past. The forms of permanent constructions vary, but encroachment never stops. Now fresh encroachment is allowed in the form of a stage". The stage and sculpture was however inaugurated by the chief minister of West Bengal , Mamata Banerjee on the event of Language Day. Rashbehari Avenue
Rashbehari Avenue (earlier known as Main Sewer Road or Ballygunge Avenue) is one of the most prestigious and important east–west avenues of Kolkata, India. A major portion of this road is often commonly referred to as Gariahat Road, Gariahat, the prime shopping and aristocratic residential neighbourhood of south Kolkata. Rashbehari Avenue falls in the posh residential neighbourhood of Ballygunge. The road is named after Sir Rash Behari Ghosh who was an Indian politician, lawyer, social worker and philanthropist. Sovan Chatterjee
Sovan Chatterjee (born 7 July 1964) is an Indian politician. He is a former member of Bharatiya Janata Party, and former Mayor of the city of Kolkata, the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Chatterjee served as a Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councilor since 1985. In 2019, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party, and left in 2021. Lal Dighi
Lal Dighi, also called the Tank Square or Dalhousie Square () is a man-made water tank in Kolkata, India. Etymology The park was referred to as Lal Bagh or Lall Bagh, due to the name of the surrounding neighbourhood, when it was first established in the area. An anecdote can be found interlinked in the name of this thing. Because of the celebration of Holi, which resulted in the pond turning a red or crimson colour, the park became known as Lal Dighi. Rabindra Sarobar
Rabindra Sarobar (formerly known as Dhakuria Lake) is an artificial lake in South Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The name also refers to the area surrounding the lake. It is flanked by Southern Avenue to the North, Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Road to the West, Dhakuria to the East and the Kolkata Suburban Railway tracks to the south. History In the early 1920s, the Calcutta Improvement Trust (CIT), a body responsible for developmental work in the Kolkata metropolitan area, acquired about of marshy jungles.
