Desert T20 Challenge
The 2017 Desert T20 Challenge was an international Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 14 to 20 January 2017. The eight Associate Members that have T20I status were scheduled to take part, although Papua New Guinea declined to participate and were replaced by Namibia (who did not have T20I status at the time). Therefore, matches with Namibia were played as Twenty20 matches. The fixtures for the tournament were confirmed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) in December 2016. The eight teams were split into two groups of four teams, with Afghanistan, Ireland, Namibia and the United Arab Emirates in Group A and Netherlands, Scotland, Oman and Hong Kong in Group B. The semi-finals and final of the tournament took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 20 January. International Cricket Council
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the world governing body of cricket. Headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, its members are 108 national associations, with 12 Full Members and 96 Associate Members. John Bracewell
John Garry Bracewell (born 15 April 1958) is a former New Zealand cricketer who was most recently the coach of the Irish national team. He played 41 Test matches between 1980 and 1990, as well as 53 One Day Internationals. He was the second New Zealand cricketer to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in Test cricket. He was the coach of the New Zealand cricket team between September 2003 and November 2008. Dawlat Zadran ( ps, ; born 19 March 1988) is an Afghan cricketer. Zadran is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast. He was born in Paktia Province. Najeeb Tarakai
Najeeb Tarakai (2 February 19916 October 2020) was an Afghan cricketer who played international cricket for the Afghanistan team. He played in twelve Twenty20 International matches and a One Day International fixture. Tarakai made his international debut at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh. In domestic cricket, he scored more than 2,000 runs in first-class matches. He was also part of the Afghan team that won the silver medal in the cricket tournament at the 2014 Asian Games. Samiullah Shinwari ( ps, سميع الله شينواري; born 31 December 1987) is an Afghan cricketer who represents Afghanistan in international level. He is a right-handed batsman and part-time leg break bowler. He made his international debut for Afghanistan in April 2009. Gulbadin Naib (; born 16 March 1991) is an Afghan cricketer. Naib plays as an all-rounder, and is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium. In April 2019, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) named Naib as the team's new One Day International (ODI) captain ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, replacing Asghar Afghan. Nawroz Mangal
Nawroz Mangal (born Nawroz Khan Mangal) (نوروز خان منګل ; born 28 November 1984) is a former Afghanistan cricketer. Mangal is former captain of the Afghanistan national cricket team and also famous for leading Afghanistan to prestigious ODI status. In January 2017 he retired from international cricket and became the national chief selector for Afghanistan. Amir Hamza Hotak (born 15 August 1991) is an Afghan cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox. Career Hotak was part of the Afghanistan Under-19 team which took part in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He made one appearance, which came against Papua New Guinea Under-19s.
