The Desert Empire League is an American high school sports league in the Coachella Valley of Riverside County, California affiliated with the CIF Southern Section. It was formed for the 2019 season. CIF Southern Section
The California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section (CIF-SS) is the governing body for high school athletics in most of Southern California and is the largest of the ten sections that comprise the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). Its membership includes most public and private high schools in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and central and southern Santa Barbara counties. At the start of the 2018/9 season, 13 schools from San Luis Obispo County and northern Santa Barbara County left the Southern Section to join the much smaller CIF Central Section. La Quinta High School (La Quinta, California)
La Quinta High School is one of six public high schools, grades 9-12, in the Desert Sands Unified School District. It is located in La Quinta, California. The school was a California Distinguished Schools award winner in 1999, 2003 and 2011. History La Quinta High School was built in 1994 but fully completed by 1996. In its first year it had an enrollment of approximately 600 students with only grades 9-10 and in 1998, with grades 9-12, it now exceeds 3,000 students making it the largest high school in the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs High School
Palm Springs High School is a public high school for grades 9 through 12 located in Palm Springs, California as part of the Palm Springs Unified School District. It was built in 1938 in an effort led by city pioneer Nellie Coffman. Athletics Palm Springs High School was in the Desert Valley League until 2018, when a restructuring saw the creation of the Desert Empire League. The second league was introduced to improve competitive balance, and Palm Springs competes in the Desert Empire League alongside five other teams. Palm Springs High School football won their first California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championship in the fall of 2009. Rancho Mirage High School is a secondary school located in Rancho Mirage, California. The school is a part of the Palm Springs Unified School District. Rancho Mirage High School was founded in 2013. Shadow Hills High School is a public high school for grades 9–12. It is located in north Indio, California, United States. Xavier College Preparatory High School is a private, Roman Catholic, Jesuit high school in Riverside County, California's Coachella Valley. It is located in the unincorporated Thousand Palms area, just outside the northern city limits of Palm Desert. The school falls within the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino and is the first lay-built, Jesuit-endorsed high school of its kind.
