Desaguadero River (Argentina)
The Desaguadero River ( es, Río Desaguadero, ) is a river in Argentina. Originating near the Tipas volcano in La Rioja at about elevation, the river is known in its upper reaches as the Bermejo or Vinchina. In its lower reaches it is also known as the Salado. It joins the Colorado River in La Pampa Province near Pichi Mahuida. The Desaguadero River has a total length of and its drainage basin is about . It is one of the major rivers that supplies the irrigated areas of Cuyo, and it flows in the eastern border of that region. Due to use of its waters for irrigation, the river is a small, shallow stream for most of the year despite its great length, and only occasionally does surface flow reach the Colorado. Tributaries include the Jáchal, San Juan, Tunuyán, Diamante and Atuel Rivers. Desaguadero River (Bolivia And Peru)
The Desaguadero River, also known as Risawariru or Uchusumain, is a river shared between Bolivia and Peru. It drains Lake Titicaca from the southern part of the river basin, flowing south and draining approximately five percent of the lake's flood waters into Lake Uru Uru and Lake Poopó. Its source in the north is very near the Peruvian border. It is navigable only by small craft and supports indigenous communities such as the Uru Muratu community. Desaguadero, Argentina
Desaguadero is a village and municipality straddling the border of Mendoza Province and San Luis Province in central Argentina. History Desaguadero was one of the posts on the Camino Real del Oeste and through it passed the travelers from Buenos Aires heading to San Luis, Mendoza and Santiago de Chile. Peter Schmidtmeyer was one of the travelers who visited the town in the first half of the 19th century. Desaguadero (Spanish for "channel, drain for drawing off superfluous water") or Chaka Marka (Aymara and Quechua for "bridge village") is a town on the Bolivian-Peruvian border. On the Bolivian side it is situated in the La Paz Department, Ingavi Province, Desaguadero Municipality, Desaguadero Canton. On the Peruvian side it lies in the Puno Region, Chucuito Province, Desaguadero District. Both parts of the town are united by a binational bridge. The town is located 86 km from La Paz, 146 km from Puno city and 190 km from Juliaca.
