Derek Gaston
Derek Gaston (born 18 April 1987) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Arbroath in the Scottish Championship. Gaston previously played for Albion Rovers before joining Morton in 2012. Career Gaston began his senior career with Albion Rovers in 2009, signing from local youth side Baillieston under-21s. He won the Scottish Football League player of the month award for September 2009. He joined Greenock Morton in 2012, making his debut against his former club in the Challenge Cup in July 2012. After playing all but three matches for Morton in his first season, Gaston signed a new one-year contract in May 2013. In May 2014, he agreed to sign for a further season, followed by signing another one-year deal in May 2015 after winning Scottish League One. Arbroath F
Arbroath () or Aberbrothock ( gd, Obar Bhrothaig ) is a former royal burgh and the largest town in the council area of Angus, Scotland, with a population of 23,902. It lies on the North Sea coast some ENE of Dundee and SSW of Aberdeen. There is evidence of Iron Age settlement, but its history as a town began with the founding of Arbroath Abbey in 1178. It grew much during the Industrial Revolution through the flax and then the jute industry and the engineering sector. A new harbour created in 1839; by the 20th century, Arbroath was one of Scotland's larger fishing ports. It is notable for the Declaration of Arbroath and the Arbroath smokie. Scottish Football League Second Division
The Scottish Football League Second Division was the third tier of the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. History The Second Division was created in 1975, as part of a wider reconstruction of the Scottish Football League (SFL). Prior to 1975, the SFL had been split into two divisions (Division One and Division Two). The effect of the reconstruction was to split these two divisions into three, with the top flight named the Premier Division, second tier the First Division, and a new third tier was created known as the Second Division. A fourth tier, known as the Third Division, was created in 1994. In 1998, the Premier Division clubs broke away from the SFL to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The 2021–22 Scottish Premiership (known as the cinch Premiership for sponsorship reasons) is the ninth and current season of the Scottish Premiership, the highest division of Scottish football, and the 125th edition overall of the top national league competition, not including one cancelled due to World War II. Rangers are the defending champions. The 2018–19 Scottish Championship (known as the Ladbrokes Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 24th season in the current format of 10 teams in the second tier of Scottish football. The fixtures were published on 15 June 2018, with the league starting on 4 August 2018. Ten teams contested the league: Alloa Athletic, Ayr United, Dundee United, Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk, Greenock Morton, Inverness CT, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South and Ross County.
