''Derby'' (German: ''Derby. Ein Ausschnitt aus der Welt des Trabersports'') is a 1926 German silent sports film directed by Max Reichmann and starring Barbara von Annenkoff, Henry Stuart and Grete Mosheim.Bock & Lenssen p.177 The film's sets were designed by Erich Zander. It was based on a novel of the same title by Ernst Klein. Max Reichmann
Max Reichmann (1884-1958) was a German film director active during the silent and early sound eras. Before making his own films, Reichmann worked as an assistant director on several E.A. Dupont productions. After graduating to directing, he directed the tenor Richard Tauber in several films following the introduction of sound in the late 1920s.Bock & Bergfelder p.467 Reichmann was Jewish, and was therefore forced to go into exile in France when the Nazi Party took power in Germany in 1933. He later emigrated to the United States, where he died in 1958. Max Nosseck
Max Nosseck (19 September 1902 – 29 September 1972) was a German film director, actor and screenwriter. Biography Nosseck was born in Nakel, then in Prussia, but now in Poland. Nosseck established himself as a director in the German Film Industry, but due to his Jewish background he was forced to emigrate following the Nazi takeover in 1933. He directed films in Spain, the Netherlands and United States. Following the Second World War he returned to work in the German and Austrian industries. Nosseck married three times: to Austrian actress Olly Gebauer, to German actress Ilse Steppat, and to the writer and aviator Genevieve Haugen. He died in Bad Wiessee.
