The Department of Health, previously combined as the Department of Health and Human Services, is the Tasmanian Government department with responsibilities regarding hospitals, ambulances, public housing, community health, and related areas including limited involvement in primary healthcare. The department is the largest of all the Tasmanian Government agencies. The department is led by its Secretary, Kathryn Morgan-Wicks. The Secretary is responsible to the Minister for Health, presently the Honourable Sarah Courtney MP, and the Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, presently the Honourable Jeremy Rockliff MP. Through the Tasmanian Health Service, the department has responsibility for the public hospital system, community health care services and some primary. The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is one of the three main public hospitals in Tasmania, Australia. It is located in Launceston and serves the north of the state. Ambulance Tasmania, formerly known as the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, provides ambulance services in the state of Tasmania, Australia. The service was established by the ''Ambulance Service Act 1982'' and operates within the Department of Health. Ambulance Tasmania responded to 83 797 incidents in the 2017-2018 period, making approximately 230 incidents per day. 34 653 of these were classed as emergency incidents. North West Regional Hospital is the primary healthcare facility for the North Western region of Tasmania. Like the Mersey Community Hospital, it is operated by the Tasmanian Health Service - North West Region, which is part of the Tasmanian government's Department of Health and Human Services. The Mersey Hospital is a public hospital at Latrobe near Devonport in Tasmania. Like the North West Regional Hospital, it is operated by the Tasmanian Health Service - North West Region, which is part of the Tasmanian government's Department of Health and Human Services. The Royal Hobart Hospital is a public hospital in the Hobart CBD, Tasmania, Australia. The hospital also functions as a teaching hospital in co-operation with the University of Tasmania. Sarah Jane Courtney (born 1979) is an Australian financial analyst, viticulturist and a former politician.
