Deon Van Rensburg
Gideon Andries van Rensburg (born 24 January 1982) is a former South African rugby union footballer. His regular playing position was winger or centre. Between 2004 and 2009, he played for Potchefstroom side the , making 44 appearances and scoring 19 tries. In 2009, while still a Leopards player, he also earned a call-up to the side during the 2009 Super 14 season and joined the prior to the 2010 Currie Cup Premier Division season. He eventually scored 19 tries in 44 appearances for the and 15 tries in 34 appearances for the , as well as four tries in 55 Super Rugby matches. He also played in two matches during the 2009 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa, one for a Highveld XV side in Potchefstroom and one for an Emerging Springboks side in Cape Town. Potchefstroom
Potchefstroom (, colloquially known as Potch) is an academic city in the North West Province of South Africa. It hosts the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University. Potchefstroom is on the Mooi Rivier (Afrikaans for "pretty river"), roughly west-southwest of Johannesburg and east-northeast of Klerksdorp. The 2014 Currie Cup Premier Division was the 76th season in the competition since it started in 1889 and was contested from 9 August to 25 October 2014. The tournament (known as the Absa Currie Cup Premier Division for sponsorship reasons) is the top tier of South Africa's premier domestic rugby union competition. The 2009 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa was an international rugby union tour which took place in South Africa from May to July 2009. The British & Irish Lions played a three-match Test series against South Africa, with matches in Durban, Pretoria and Johannesburg, as well as matches against six provincial teams, and a match against the Emerging Springboks, South Africa's second national team. The Lions won all six provincial matches and drew with the Emerging Springboks, 13–13. South Africa won the Test series, defeating the Lions 26–21 in the first Test, and then 28–25 in the second Test. The third Test was won by the Lions 28–9. The highlight of the series was the second Test, which the Lions led until the 76th minute, when they fell 25–22 behind.
