Denzil Jones
Denzil Jones (birth registered second ¼ 1926 – 25 December 2010), also known by the nickname of "Buck" (after actor Buck Jones), was a Welsh rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played club level rugby union (RU) for Taibach RFC and Aberavon RFC, as a prop, i.e. number 1 or 3, and club level rugby league (RL) for Wigan, as a , i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums. The Barrow Raiders are a semi-professional rugby league team in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The club was formed in 1875 as Barrow Football Club. Aberavon RFC Players
Aberavon ( cy, Aberafan) is a town and community in Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. The town derived its name from being near the mouth of the river Afan, which also gave its name to a medieval lordship. Today it is essentially a district of Port Talbot, covering the central and south western part of the town. Aberavon is also the name of the nearby Blue Flag beach and the parish covering the same area. History Little is known about Aberavon before Norman times. Bronze Age remains have been found in the hills behind the town. Roman artifacts have been found near the sea, including when the docks were being built in the 19th century. Barley Mow, Bramley
Barley Mow was a former home ground of the Bramley rugby league club in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Wales to its west and Scotland to its north. The Irish Sea lies northwest and the Celtic Sea to the southwest. In 1907 Barley Mow became the first ground to stage a club match against the touring New Zealanders. In 2007, a blue plaque was added to the Barley Mow pub to mark the anniversary of the tour match. In the 1960s, the club moved to a new ground on adjacent land, which became known as McLaren Field. In 1995, the stadium at MacLaren Field had safety problems that Bramley could not afford to implement and it was demolished to be replaced with housing. Bramley RLFC was a rugby league club from the Bramley area of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, that folded following the 1999 season. The club is a famous name in rugby league, having existed before the formation of the Northern Union in 1895. The traditional nickname for the club was 'the Villagers'. Bramley Rugby League Community Club aka Bramley Buffaloes was formed by the fans of the former club with the desire to return to the professional ranks as quickly as possible, continuing the Bramley name, traditions and history.
