The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the British soap opera ''Emmerdale'' in 2003, by order of first appearance. Freda Darby Freda Darby is an acquaintance of Jarvis Skelton. She appeared in 2003 and 2005. After appearing briefly in 2003 whilst Jarvis was involved in a dancing competition with Edna Birch, Freda returns to Emmerdale in late 2005. She offers Jarvis the chance to live in Spain with her. He accepts her offer and they leave the village in December 2005. The ''Daily Mirror'' is a British national daily tabloid. Founded in 1903, it is owned by parent company Reach plc. From 1985 to 1987, and from 1997 to 2002, the title on its masthead was simply ''The Mirror''. Paul Marsden (Emmerdale)
Paul Marsden is a fictional character from the British television soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Matthew Booth. The character made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 10 March 2003. The character was killed off in July 2004, following an altercation with Carl King ( Tom Lister). Development After they had been on-screen for six months, ''Emmerdale'' producer Steve Frost decided to axe the majority of the Marsden family. Frost decided to keep Paul and Siobhan in the series but Ronnie, Frances, Alistair and Elaine would all depart the series in December 2003. Of his decision, Frost stated "The Marsdens have got a great story to play through the autumn, but unfortunately this culminates in them leaving the village."
