Dent-de-Leone
Dent-de-Leone is a small independent publisher located in London, distinctive for its collaboration directly with artists and designers to produce its books. It was founded by Martino Gamper, Kajsa Ståhl, Maki Suzuki (both from design collective Åbäke) anGemma Holtin 2004 with the publication of a book by Gamper. The publisher produces an irregular number of books per year, as well as limited editions and multiples. Dent-De-Leone has participated in numerous art book fairs including the ''Whitechapel Art Book Fair'', Publish And Be Damned anOffprint All of its publications are designed by Åbäke. Politics Dent-de-Leone were inspired by Factory Records early contracts, so that each artist retains the ownership of their back catalogue. Peter Jensen (fashion Designer)
Peter Jensen (born in Løgstør, Denmark) is a men's and womenswear designer. Background Jensen initially studied graphic design, embroidery and tailoring at The Royal Danish Academy of Design in Copenhagen before moving to London in 1997 to undertake an MA in menswear at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He graduated in 1999 and formed his eponymous menswear label afterwards, subsequently also introducing womenswear. Jensen has regularly shown his collections on the main schedule at London Fashion Week, Copenhagen Fashion Week and New York fashion week. Jensen and his design team worked in a studio based in Dalston, East London until 2018. The designer moved to Atlanta, USA in 2018 to start as chair of fashion at Savannah college of art and design. Jensen started a new brand in 2020. Martino Gamper
Martino Gamper (born in Merano, Italy, in 1971) is an Italian designer based in London who became internationally regarded through his project ''100 Chairs in 100 Days''. This group of works was exhibited in 2007 in London, the Milan Triennial in 2009, and at YBCA in San Francisco in late 2010. It has also been published by Dent-de-Leone as a book (''100 Chairs in 100 Days and its 100 Ways'') recently republished as a pocket book. The ''100 Chairs'' project has been described by Gamper as "3D Drawing", and is typical of Gamper's practice in that it shows disregard for the historic design standards of harmony and symmetry. Gamper has stated "There is no perfect chair". Gamper is married to the sculptor Francis Upritchard. Max Lamb
Max Lamb (born 1980) is a British furniture designer who combines traditional, often primitive, design methods with digital design. He is known for employing unusual approaches to using natural materials, including pouring pewter onto sand, and volcanic rock. His studio is based in North London. Personal life Lamb was born in Cornwall in 1980. He attended Amersham & Wycombe College for art and design in 2000 where he received several awards. He also received a City and Guilds Photography Certificate in 2000. He later attended Northumbria University, receiving a degree in three dimensional design in 2003. In 2006, he received his master's degree in design products from the Royal College of Art. After graduation, his professor, industrial designer Tom Dixon, hired him as a special projects designer. Elias Arnér
Elias Arnér (Elias S. J. Arnér; born 2 March 1966) is a Swedish professor in biochemistry active in the fields of redox biology and cancer research. He studied medicine at Karolinska Institutet and became a medical doctor in 1997. He received his Ph.D. in 1993 from Karolinska Institutet on the subject of nucleoside analogues in relation to cancer and HIV treatment. He moved to Munich, Germany where he started focusing on selenoproteins. He returned to Karolinska Institutet where he became associate professor in 2000 and appointed professor in 2009. Francis Upritchard
Francis Upritchard (born in 1976) is a New Zealand contemporary artist based in London. In 2009, she represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale. Education Upritchard graduated from the Ilam School of Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury, School of Fine Arts in 1997. She had initially thought to study painting, but became interested in sculpture during her first year. Soon after graduating, Upritchard moved to London. Work Upritchard's early work often referenced museum displays, collections of artefacts, and ancient cultures. She often combined found objects with her own hand-made additions, such as sculpted heads made from modelleing clay of dogs, monkeys and birds inserted into the necks of ceramic and glass vessels, or fastened onto pieces of sporting equipment like hockey sticks and cricket bats. Ryan Gander
Ryan Gander OBE Royal Academician, RA (born 1976) is a British artist. Gander is a wheelchair user who does not identify as being disabled. He explains: "I don't even feel disabled. I've spent my whole life trying not to be disabled, so I don't want to be labelled a "disabled artist." Since 2003, Gander has produced a body of artworks in different forms, ranging from sculpture, apparel, writing, architecture, painting, typefaces, publications, and performance. (In)visible Dialogues was an art project realized at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 2011. It was initiated by artist Per Huttner and biochemist Elias Arnér. The project was transgressing the boundaries of exhibition, publication and lectures in order to stimulate dialogues between art and science. The project was a sequel to the project Begrepp – En samling from 1992''(In)visible Dialogues'', Ed. E. Arnér and P. Huttner, Published by Dent-de-Leone. and drew on Hüttner's experiences from projects like I am a Curator and Democracy and Desire. (In)Visible Dialogues was installed in three interconnected rooms. Benoît Maire (born 22 October 1978 in Pessac) is a French visual artist who works in film, sculpture, painting, photography, collage, and performance art. He is known for treating theory as an art form in its own right. Biography Benoît Maire studied visual art and philosophy at Michel de Montaigne University Bordeaux 3, at the Villa Arson in Nice, and at the Sorbonne where he began doctoral studies in philosophy, which he subsequently abandoned in 2006.
