Denny Jacobs
Dennis Jacobs (born November 8, 1937) was an American politician. Born in Rock Island County, Illinois, Jacobs received his bachelor's degree in business administration and political science from Augustana College. From 1987 until 2005, Jacobs served in the Illinois State Senate and was a Democrat. He lives in East Moline, Illinois. Jacobs served on the East Moline City Council and on the Rock County Board. He also served as the county auditor. Jacobs also served as mayor of East Moline. Rock Island County, Illinois
Rock Island County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois, bounded on the west by the Mississippi River. According to the 2010 census, it had a population of 147,546. Its county seat is Rock Island; its largest city is neighboring Moline. Rock Island County is one of the four counties that make up the Davenport- Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Rock Island County was formed in 1831 out of Jo Daviess County. It was named for Rock Island, an island in the Mississippi River now known as Arsenal Island. The Rock River (which the Sauk and Fox Indians called Sinnissippi meaning "rocky waters") flows from Whiteside County and points further east and north and joins the Mississippi River at Rock Island. Augustana College (Illinois)
Augustana College is a private Lutheran college in Rock Island, Illinois. The college enrolls approximately 2,500 students. Its campus is adjacent to the Mississippi River and covers of hilly, wooded land. History Augustana College was founded as Augustana College and Theological Seminary in 1860 by the Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Augustana Synod. Located first in Chicago, it moved to Paxton, Illinois, in 1863 and to Rock Island, Illinois, its current home, in 1875. After 1890, an increasingly large Swedish American community in America promoted a new institutional structure, including a lively Swedish-language press, many new churches, several colleges, and a network of ethnic organizations. Mike Jacobs (Illinois Politician)
Mike Jacobs (born June 25, 1960) was a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate, who represented the 36th District from when he was appointed in 2005 until 2015. The 36th district, located in Western Illinois, includes all or parts of East Moline, Moline, Rock Island, Rock Falls and Sterling. Background Jacobs was born in Moline, Illinois.
