Dennis Hillman (golfer)
Dennis Victor Hillman (27 November 1918 – 22 December 1994) was an English footballer who played in the Football League as an outside right for Colchester United and Gillingham. Career Born in Southend-on-Sea, Hillman began his career with Brighton & Hove Albion, although he failed to break into the first-team with the club, opting to return to Essex with Colchester United shortly after World War II in 1946. He would go on to make 107 Southern League appearances for the club and appeared on four occasions in the Football League after Colchester's election in 1950. Hillman made his Southern League debut on 28 September 1946 in a 3–2 home victory against Worcester City and scored his first goal for the club in a 3–3 draw at Bath City on 2 November of the same year. He would go on to score 18 times in the Southern League, scoring his final goal in the second leg of the Southern League Cup final against Bath, resulting in a 3–4 defeat as Colchester won 6–4 on aggregate ... Southend-on-Sea (), commonly referred to as Southend (), is a coastal city and unitary authority area with borough status in southeastern Essex, England. It lies on the north side of the Thames Estuary, east of central London. It is bordered to the north by Rochford and to the west by Castle Point. Bill Burtenshaw
William Frederick Burtenshaw (13 December 1925 – 23 February 2010) was an English professional footballer. Born in Portslade, he played amateur football in Sussex, including for Southwick, and then went on to play professionally for Luton Town and Gillingham between 1948 and 1952, and in total made 40 appearances in the Football League, scoring eight goals. He played alongside his brother, Charlie Burtenshaw, at both Luton and Gillingham, and they played together for Kentish non-league clubs Snowdown Colliery Snowdown is a hamlet near Dover in Kent, England. Football League Third Division South
The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. This division was created in 1921 from the Third Division, formed one year earlier when the Football League absorbed the leading clubs from the Southern League.
