Dennis E. Williams
Dennis E. Williams (born April 7, 1959) is a Democratic politician who represented the Talleyville-based 10th district in the Delaware House of Representatives from 2009 until 2015, when he was defeated in the Democratic primary by Sean Matthews. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic nomination for Delaware State Auditor in 2018. Early life and education Williams grew up in Cardiff, Delaware, and attended Concord High School. He graduated from the University of Delaware after majoring in accounting and financial management. He enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania and received an MS in engineering in 2008. Political career Williams first ran to represent the 10th district in 1994 after defeating Cliff Werline in the Democratic primary by 965 to 627 votes. In the general election, he lost to incumbent Republican Jane Maroney by 29% to 71%. Sean Matthews
Sean Matthews is an American politician. He is a Democratic member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing District 10. He has been in office since 2014, when he challenged and defeated incumbent Democrat Dennis E. Williams, who he defeated again in 2016 when Williams attempted to retake his former seat. Mike Castle
Michael Newbold Castle (born July 2, 1939) is an American lawyer and politician who was governor of Delaware (1985–92) and the U.S. representative for (1993–2011). He is a member of the Republican Party. The district includes the entire state of Delaware and is the oldest intact surviving district in the nation. He was the longest-serving U.S. Representative in the state's history. Before his election to Congress, Castle served as a member of the Delaware General Assembly, starting in the State House of Representatives (1966–67) and then in the State Senate (1968–76). He was the 20th lieutenant governor of Delaware from 1981 to 1985, and the 69th governor of Delaware from 1985 to 1992. ''The News Journal'' is the main newspaper for Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding area. It is headquartered in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, near New Castle, and is owned by Gannett. History The ancestry of the News Journal reflects the mergers of several newspapers. It is dated to Oct. 1, 1866 when Howard M. Jenkins and Wilmer Atkinson started the afternoon publication ''Daily Commercial''. The 2008 United States presidential election was the 56th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
