Denis Blanchette
Denis Blanchette (born September 4, 1956) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2011 election. He represented the electoral district of Louis-Hébert as a member of the New Democratic Party until 2015. Blanchette ran in Louis-Hébert twice, in 2006 and 2008, before being elected. Prior to winning office he was a computer analyst and public servant. In May 2017 Blanchette was selected as president of the New Democratic Party of Quebec. He was the candidate for the NDPQ in the October 2, 2017 by-election held in the district of Louis-Hébert. He finished 7th with 1.3 per cent of the vote. He resigned as president of the NDPQ in 2018 citing personal reasons. Blanchette again contested Louis-Hébert in the 2021 federal election as a candidate for the Green Party. Louis-Hébert (electoral District)
Louis-Hébert () is a federal electoral district in the Canadian province of Quebec. Represented in the House of Commons since 1968, its population was certified, according to the detailed statistics of 2001, as 98,156. Geography The district, in the Quebec region of Capitale-Nationale, consists of the southern part of Quebec City, and is largely coextensive with the borough of Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge. It is based mostly on the former city of Sainte-Foy, which was merged into the "megacity" of Quebec City in 2002. The neighbouring ridings are Portneuf—Jacques-Cartier, Louis-Saint-Laurent, Québec, Lévis—Bellechasse, and Lotbinière—Chutes-de-la-Chaudière. The riding lost small fractions of territory to Louis-Saint-Laurent and Québec as a result of the 2012 electoral redistribution. Hélène Scherrer
Hélène Chalifour-Scherrer, (born July 6, 1950 in Quebec City, Quebec) is a Canadian politician. From 2000 to 2004, she was a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons representing riding of Louis-Hébert, Quebec, as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work. She has two children. In December 2003, she was appointed Minister of Canadian Heritage by the new prime minister, Paul Martin. In the 2004 election, she was defeated by Roger Clavet of the Bloc Québécois, and replaced as heritage minister by Liza Frulla a month later. On August 18, 2004, it was announced that she was to become Paul Martin's principal secretary, replacing Francis Fox. She held this post until the defeat of the Martin government in 2006. Alex Tyrrell
Alex Tyrrell (born 23 March 1988) is a Canadian politician who has served as the leader of the Green Party of Quebec since 2013. Early life and education Born in 1988, Tyrrell grew up in Beaconsfield on the West Island of Montreal. Following his secondary education, Tyrrell enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Montreal's Dawson College. During his technical studies at the CEGEP, he worked on the issues of biofuels and became involved in an advocacy campaign to finance a project of design of electric vehicles for the students of his department.
