Denim Air ACMI B.V. was a Dutch charter airline based in Mijdrecht. It provided ACMI wet lease services to other airlines. Its main base was Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It was wholly owned by Sky Greenland and had 50 employees in January 2016. Denim operated full charters and under wetlease (ACMI) contracts on behalf of other airlines as well as governments and corporations. Its operations licence was revoked on 24 November 2016. History This airline was established in 1996 and started operations on 26 April 1996. Denim Air mainly targeted African, Asian and other willing markets, operating for United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan and Central Africa, for the Norwegian Army in Afghanistan, for Veba Oil in Libya. Sky Greenland (formerly known as ''Greenland Express'') was a Virtual airline (economics), virtual airline headquartered in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, which started operations in June 2014, using a sole Fokker 100 leased from Denim Air, Denim Air ACMI. History Sky Greenland started operations on 17 June 2014 with two Fokker 100 aircraft (one in storage for possible new routes coming soon, and used for charter services), mainly flying between Greenland and Denmark, Kangerlussuaq - Narsarsuaq - Keflavik - Aalborg - Copenhagen. The Fokker 100 is a regional jet produced by Fokker in the Netherlands. The Fokker 100 is based on the Fokker F28 with a fuselage stretched by to seat up to 109 passengers, up from 85. It is powered by two newer Rolls-Royce Tay turbofans, and it has an updated glass cockpit and a wider wing and tail for increased maximum weights. The program was announced in 1983 and it made its maiden flight on 30 November 1986. The variant was approved on 20 November 1987, and first deliveries to Swissair started in February 1988. American Airlines ordered 75, TAM Transportes Aéreos Regionais asked for 50, and USAir got 40. It is the basis of the shorter Fokker 70, which made its first flight in April 1993. Helvetic Airways (Previously Odette Airways) is a Swiss regional airline headquartered in Kloten with its fleet stationed at Zurich Airport. The Fokker 50 is a turboprop-powered airliner, designed as an improved version of the successful Fokker F27 Friendship. The Fokker 60 is a stretched freighter version of the Fokker 50. Both aircraft were manufactured and supported by Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. The Fokker 50 was developed during the early 1980s following a decline in the sales of the company's earlier F27 Friendship. It was decided that the new airliner would be a derivative of its predecessor, sharing much of its airframe and design features, while incorporating new advances and several improvements, such as the adoption of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127B turboprop engines, in order to produce a successor that had a 30 per cent reduction in fuel consumption over the F27.
