Dengzhou
Dengzhou (), formerly Deng County (), is a city in Nanyang, Henan, China. It has an area of and a population of 1,500,000. The urban area is 35 km², and the urban population is 300,000. The city is located in the southwest of Henan province, adjacent to the borders between Henan, Hubei and Shaanxi. It geometrically lies in the center of the triangle of Zhengzhou, Wuhan and Xi'an, with equal distance to any of these three cities. It is a city with a long cultural history in China. Historical figures from Dengzhou include Zhang Zhongjing (ancient Chinese medicine practitioner), Han Yu (poet), Kou Zhun (senator of Song dynasty), Fan Zhongyan (writer), Yao Xueyin (modern writer), and Zhou Daxin (modern writer). Nanyang, Henan
Nanyang is a prefecture-level city in the southwest of Henan province, China. The city with the largest administrative area in Henan, Nanyang borders Xinyang to the southeast, Zhumadian to the east, Pingdingshan to the northeast, Luoyang to the north, Sanmenxia to the northwest, the province of Shaanxi to the west, and the province of Hubei to the south. Zhou Daxin
Zhou Daxin (; born 1952), also known by his pen name Pǔdù (). He is a Chinese novelist who was the president of Henan Literature Academy. Biography Zhou was born into a family of farming background in Dengzhou, Henan in 1952. In 1970, after high school, Zhou joined the People's Liberation Army. Zhou started to publish works in 1979. Zhou graduated from Xi'an Institute of Politics () in 1985, then he entered Lu Xun Literary Institute. Zhou joined the China Writers Association in 1988. In 1999, Zhou became the president of Henan Literature Academy (). Yao Xueyin
Yao Xueyin (; 10 October 1910 – 29 April 1999) was a Chinese novelist who was a member of China Writers Association. Yao was a member of the 5th, 6th, and 7th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Yao used his fortune posthumously to institute the Yao Xueyin Historical Novel Prize (). Biography Yao was born into a family of landlord background in Dengzhou, Henan in 1910. In 1930, Yao was expelled for taking part in student movement from Henan University. In 1940s, Yao started to write the novel ''Li Zicheng''. In 1950s. Yao worked in Wuhan, and shortly taught at Central China Normal University. In 1957, Yao was labeled as a rightist by the government and he was sent to a farm to work. In 1961, he was rehabilitated by Mao Zedong, and he returned to Wuhan. In 1963, Yao published his novel ''Li Zicheng'' volume 1 by the China Youth Publishing House (). Sub-prefecture-level City
A sub-prefectural municipality (), sub-prefectural city, or vice-prefectural municipality, is an unofficial designation for a type of administrative division of China. A sub-prefectural city is officially considered to be a county-level city, but it has more power ''de facto'' because the cadres assigned to its government are one half-level higher in rank than those of an "ordinary" county-level city—though still lower than those of a prefecture-level city. Henan
Henan (; or ; ; alternatively Honan) is a landlocked province of China, in the central part of the country. Henan is often referred to as Zhongyuan or Zhongzhou (), which literally means "central plain" or "midland", although the name is also applied to the entirety of China proper.
