Dendrothereua
''Dendrothereua'' is a genus of house centipedes in the family Scutigeridae. There are at least three described species in ''Dendrothereua'', found in the southern United States and the Neotropics. ''Dendrothereua'' was formerly considered a taxonomic synonym of ''Scutigera''. In 2009, Edgecomb and Giribet resurrected the genus based on Phylogenetic research. The species of ''Dendrothereua'' are still sometimes considered part of ''Scutigera''. Species These three species belong to the genus ''Dendrothereua'': * '' Dendrothereua homa'' (Chamberlin, 1942) (Arizona house centipede) * '' Dendrothereua linceci'' (Wood, 1867) * '' Dendrothereua nubila'' (Chamberlin, 1921) i Data sources: i = ITIS, c = Catalogue of Life, g = GBIF, b = Bugguide.net References Further reading * * * * * * * * External links * Scutigeromorpha {{myriapoda-stub ...

''Scutigera linceci'', the Arizona house centipede (originally described as ''Cermatia linceci'') is a species of the Scutigeromorph centipede found in the Southern United States and Central America. Its species name refers to Dr Lincecum, a field naturalist. In the wild, they live under stones and in hollow logs, but the species frequently enters human habitation. Appearance ''Scutigera linceci'' is much smaller than the common house centipede, ''Scutigera coleoptrata ''Scutigera coleoptrata'', also known as the house centipede, is a species of centipede that is typically yellowish-grey and has up to 15 pairs of long legs. Physically, it includes the tropics, tropical Ecoregion#Terrestrial, terrestrial ecoregions of the Americas and the entire South American temperate climate, temperate zone. Definition In biogeography, the Neotropic or Neotropical realm is one of the eight terrestrial realms. This realm includes South America, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and southern North America. In Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula and southern lowlands, and most of the east and west coastlines, including the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula are Neotropical. In the United States southern Florida and coastal Central Florida are considered Neotropical. The realm also includes temperate southern South America. In contrast, the Neotropical Phytochorion, Floristic Kingdom excludes southernmost South America, which instead is placed in the Antarctic Floristic Kingdom, Antarctic kingdom. The ...
