Demon Lord (Dungeons & Dragons)
In the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy role-playing game, "monsters" are generally the antagonists which players must fight and defeat to progress in the game. Since the game's first edition in 1974, a bestiary was included along other game manuals, first called ''Monsters & Treasure'' and now commonly called the ''Monster Manual''. Described as an "essential" part of ''Dungeons & Dragons'', the game's monsters have become notable in their own right, influencing fields such as video games and fiction, as well as popular culture. The term ''monster'' in ''Dungeons & Dragons'' can refer to a variety of creatures, including traditional monsters such as dragons, supernatural creatures such as ghosts, and mundane or fantastic animals—in short, "an enormous heterogeneous collection of natural and monstrous foes." While many monsters are adapted from pre-existing myths and legends, others have been invented specifically for the game, sometimes having characteristics specifically sui ...

Demon Lord Dante
is a manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai. The series tells the story of Ryo Utsugi, a student who finds himself in the body of an ancient demon known as Dante and sees himself in the middle of a conflict between God and the devils. Nagai's main influence to create the work was Gustave Doré's illustrations of Dante's ''Divine Comedy''. The series challenged the traditional view of God as good and Devil as bad and was created to provoke the critics of his previous works. During 1971, Nagai wrote the original ''Demon Lord Dante'' manga, which was published in Kodansha's ''Bokura Magazine''. The series ran from January to June, but it ended prematurely because of the magazine discontinuation. In 2002, the manga was officially revived by Nagai, and during the same year a 13-episode anime adaption was created and broadcast in Japan by AT-X. The anime was released in North America in DVD format by Geneon Entertainment in 2004 and re-released by Discotek Media in 2016. ...

Lord Demon
''Lord Demon'' is a fantasy novel by American writer Roger Zelazny, completed in 1999 by Jane Lindskold after his death. It is a "scientific" fantasy built on favorite themes (the necessity of knowing oneself, taking risks, accepting the vulnerability that comes with feeling passionately etc.) of Roger Zelazny, drawing on East Asian, Irish, and hero's quest myths. It features his signature protagonist: a smart-mouthed cigarette-smoking erudite who can be poetic yet is detached, homicidal when angered but more often immersed in art, poetry, and the occasional creation of alternate realities. Also kind to the weak and deeply romantic in his approach to women. Reception Charles de Lint praised ''Lord Demon'', saying Lindskold had done "an exemplary job ... of capturing and retaining that wonderful gift Zelazny had of headlong invention, mythic characters made human, and deft, deliciously-convoluted plotting." He characterized the novel as "a worthy farewell to one of the best wri ...
