Demon (musician)
Jérémie Mondon, known by his stage name Demon, is a French electronic music producer, born in 1977 in Paris. His music comes under the genre known as French touch. Music career The start of Demon's career was particularly influenced by the hip hop movement and artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Mobb Deep and A Tribe Called Quest. These artists heavily influenced his first recordings and he still has close ties to rap music, as he produces music for French rappers. Soon after his spell with hip-hop he joined the French electronic scene. In 1997 he created the label 20000ST, in order to produce his first EP, ''A-Typique''. At 22, he signed for Sony record label and recorded his first studio album, ''Midnight Funk'', considered by critics as one of the classic albums of French touch. French House
French house, also known as French touch, filter house and tekfunk, is a style of house music originally produced by French musicians in the 1990s. It is a form of Euro disco and a popular strand of the late 1990s and 2000s European dance music scene. The defining characteristics of the sound are reliant on filter and phaser effects both on and alongside samples from late 1970s and early 1980s American or European disco tracks (or original hooks strongly inspired by such samples), causing thicker harmonic foundations than the genre's forerunners. Most tracks in this genre are in time and feature steady four on the floor beats in the tempo range of 110–130 beats per minute. Alex Gopher
Alexis Latrobe (), known professionally as Alex Gopher, is a French mastering engineer, electronic musician and producer. He worked as a sound engineer at Translab Studio, notably for Angèle, Clara Luciani, Lomepal, -M-, Mr. Oizo, Gesaffelstein and Etienne Daho. Latrobe has contributed a great amount to the French touch movement of the 1990s. Career Latrobe began his musical career playing bass in the band Orange with future Air members Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin. After the group split, he began to create electronic music and embarked on a successful solo career. Latrobe's musical style mainly consists of sampling, along with recruiting vocal talent. His track "Brain Leech (Bugged Mind Remix)" has been featured in ''Grand Theft Auto IV'', playing on the Electro-Choc radio station. 113 is a French hip hop group, including African and Caribbean roots originating in North and West Africa and the island of Guadeloupe, formed in their most famous song "Tonton du Bled" ("Uncle From The Land"; 'bled' being a term from Maghrebi Arabic). The group's name comes from the name of the building in a housing estate where the members spent much of their youth; additionally, it's a play on the US hip-hop group 112. Booba
Élie Yaffa (; born 9 December 1976), better known under his stage name Booba, is a French rapper. After a brief stint as a break dancer in the early 1990s, Booba partnered with his friend Ali to form Lunatic. The duo released a critically acclaimed album in 2000 but disbanded in 2003. Booba has since embarked on a successful solo career, selling more than 10 million discs over his career and becoming the most legally downloaded artist in French history. Booba is praised for the quality of his flow and beats but often criticized because of the controversial nature of his lyrics. La Rumeur () is a French-language rap group from Élancourt (Yvelines, France). Founded in 1995, the group is composed of four rappers, Ekoué, Hamé, Mourad, and Philippe, and two DJs, Kool M and Soul G. Considering themselves an "underground" or subversive group, La Rumeur has refused to adapt their lyrics for radio. They carefully select the media outlets with which they communicate, shunning the popular press, television, and radio. Concerts and word of mouth are their main means of promotion.
