The Armenian Democratic Liberal Party ( hy, Ռամկավար Ազատական Կուսակցութիւն), the Ramgavar Party, (known before 1921 as the Armenakan party) ( hy, Արմենական Կուսակցութիւն), also known by its Armenian initials ( hy, ՌԱԿ ) or its English initials ADL (meaning Armenian Democratic Liberal) is an Armenian political party in the Armenian diaspora including the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Australia. It was established in Istanbul, Constantinople in 1921 as a result of the unification of 3 political parties: the Armenakan Party, the Liberal Party of the Reformed Hunchakians, and the Constituent Democratic Party. The Armenakan Party was founded in 1885 by Mekertich Portukalian as part of the Armenian national movement, national movement in Van Eyalet, Van in the Ottoman Empire. The Democratic Liberal Party (of Armenia) (Armenian: Ռամկավար Ազատական Կուսակցություն (Հայաստան), pronounced Ramgavar Azatakan Kusaktsutyun (Hayastan)), was an Armenian political party that was formed on 3 June 2012 and later dissolved in 2016. The party experienced substantial internal division since its formation, and these differences were not reconciled. On 1 December 2011, the Democratic Liberal Party of Armenia and Armenakan-Democratic Liberal Party signed an initial agreement for a unification process between the two parties during a joint general assembly. On 3 June 2012, a general constituting assembly was held and the new party was officially declared and formed. The Italian Democratic Liberal Party ( it, Partito Liberale Democratico Italiano, PLDI) was a social-liberal political party active in Italy in the earlier decades of the 20th century. The Democratic Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Democrat-Liberal, PDL) was a liberal-conservative political party in Romania. The party was formed on 15 December 2007, when the Democratic Party (PD) merged with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD).
