Democratic Forum Of Romanians In Moldova
The Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova ( ro, Forumul Democrat al Românilor din Moldova) is a civic movement, which brings together over 120 NGOs, several leading public organizations of Moldova and a whole number of academicians, writers, journalists. In 2006, the organization claimed 100,000 members. Overview The Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova was created on April 17, 2005. But the Ministry of Justice officially recognized the forum only on October 26, 2005, after the intervention of the United States Department of State. Several leading public organizations of Moldova (Moldovan Writers' Union, Union of Journalists of Moldova, Association of Historians of Moldova, Union of Cinematographers of Moldova, Union of Artists of Moldova, Jewish Cultural Society, and some other) and a whole number of academicians, writers, journalists have founded the civil movement named Democratic Forum of the Romanians of Moldova. Metropolis Of Bessarabia
The Metropolis of Bessarabia ( ro, Mitropolia Basarabiei), also referred to as the Bessarabian Orthodox Church, is an autonomous Eastern Orthodox Metropolitan bishopric of the Romanian Orthodox Church, situated in Moldova. Its canonical jurisdiction is the territory of the Republic of Moldova, and over the Moldovan and Romanian Orthodox diaspora from the former USSR. Onisifor Ghibu (May 31, 1883 – October 3, 1972) was a Romanian teacher of pedagogy, member of the Romanian Academy, and politician. Biography Early life Born into a peasant family in Szelistye (now Săliște, Romania), near Nagyszeben (now Sibiu, Romania), in Transylvania, Kingdom of Hungary, then part of Austria-Hungary. He attended the Hungarian language high school in Nagyszeben and then the Romanian language gymnasium in Brassó (now Braşov, Romania).
