Democratic Change (El Salvador)
Democratic Change ( es, Cambio Democrático) is a center-left political party in El Salvador. It was formed by former members of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN), and United Democratic Center (CDU). It is a social christian and social democratic in ideological orientation, incorporating what the party calls the "democratic left." In the 12 March 2006 legislative election, the party won 3.1% of the popular vote and 2 out of 84 seats. At the January 18, 2009 legislative elections, Democratic Change won 2.1% of the vote and 1 seat. Yellow
Yellow is the color between green and orange on the spectrum of light. It is evoked by light with a dominant wavelength of roughly 575585 nm. Christian Left
The Christian left is a range of left-wing Christian political and social movements that largely embrace social justice principles and uphold a social doctrine or social gospel. 2019 Salvadoran Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in El Salvador on 3 February 2019, with voters electing a President and Vice President for a five-year term. With 90% of the votes counted, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal declared former San Salvador mayor Nayib Bukele of the Grand Alliance for National Unity the winner with over 53% of the total vote, avoiding the need for the second round, which had provisionally been scheduled for March. 2014 Salvadoran Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in El Salvador on 2 February 2014, with a second round held on 9 March since no candidate won an outright majority. The primary candidates were Vice-President Salvador Sánchez Cerén of the FMLN, San Salvador Mayor Norman Quijano of ARENA, and Former President Antonio "Tony" Saca. Saca represented GANA, the National Conciliation Party, and the Christian Democratic Party in the UNIDAD coalition. 2009 Salvadoran Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in El Salvador on 15 March 2009. The main candidates were Rodrigo Ávila (ARENA) and Mauricio Funes ( FMLN). Funes won the election with 51.3% of the vote and became the first leftist president of El Salvador. Candidates The Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front nominated Mauricio Funes as its presidential candidate and Salvador Sánchez Cerén as his running mate. The Nationalist Republican Alliance nominated Rodrigo Ávila and Arturo Zablah. 2009 Salvadoran Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in El Salvador on 18 January 2009. The leftist Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) was widely expected to win the most seats for the first time against the nationalist conservative Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA). As a result of the election, the Revolutionary Democratic Front, a left-wing party founded by FMLN dissidents in 2006 with the same name and symbols as the historic FDR from the Salvadoran Civil War, was deregistered as a political party as it failed to gain either a seat or 50,000 votes, as necessary to sustain registration. All parties contested the election in all departments, except for the FDR, which did not contest the election in three departments and stood jointly with the PDC in two others. United Democratic Centre (El Salvador)
The United Democratic Centre () is a political party in El Salvador. It first contested national elections in 1999 when it nominated Rubén Zamora (who finished third) in the presidential elections.
