Democratic Alliance Of Chile
The Democratic Alliance of Chile ( es, Alianza Democrática de Chile) was a coalition of left-wing parties from 1942 to 1946, which succeeded to the Popular Front headed by Pedro Aguirre Cerda's government (1938-1941). It included the Radical Party, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the Democratic Party and the Workers' Socialist Party (until June 1944, when its members integrated the Communist Party), and was also supported by the '' Confederación de Trabajadores de Chile'' (CTCH) trade-union. The coalition initial aim was to stand united before the 1942 presidential election, which were won by the Democratic Alliance's candidate, Juan Antonio Ríos, who formed a cabinet which was supported by the main parties of the Democratic Alliance. The coalition dissolved itself after the communists were outlawed by Gabriel Gonzalez Videla in 1947 . Popular Front (Chile)
The Popular Front (Spanish: ''Frente Popular'') in Chile was an electoral and political left-wing coalition from 1937 to February 1941, during the Presidential Republic Era (1924–1973). It gathered together the Radical Party, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the Democratic Party and the Radical Socialist Party, as well as organizations such as the '' Confederación de Trabajadores de Chile'' (CTCH) trade-union, the Mapuche movement which unified itself in the ''Frente Único Araucano'', and the feminist ''Movimiento Pro-Emancipación de las Mujeres de Chile'' (MEMCh). Juan Antonio Ríos
Juan Antonio Ríos Morales (; November 10, 1888 – June 27, 1946) was a Chilean political figure who served as president of Chile from 1942 to 1946, during the height of World War II. He died in office. Early life Ríos was born at the ''Huichicura'' hacienda, near the town of Cañete, a coal-mining village in the Arauco Province of southern Chile. He was the youngest son of Anselmo Ríos, a rich landowner, and his third wife Lucinda Morales. His father (aged 69 to his young wife's 19 at marriage) died when he was very young so he and his three brothers were raised single-handedly by his mother. He completed his primary studies at the rural school of Cañete, and his secondary studies first at the ''Liceo'' of Lebu and later at the one in Concepción, and continued legal studies at the courses given at the annex of his school. The Communist Party of Chile ( es, Partido Comunista de Chile, ) is a communist party in Chile. It was founded in 1912 as the Socialist Workers' Party () and adopted its current name in 1922. Pedro Abelino Aguirre Cerda (; February 6, 1879 – November 25, 1941) was a Chilean political figure, educator, and lawyer who served as the 22nd president of Chile from 1938 until his death in 1941. A member of the Radical Party since 1906, he was chosen by the left-wing Popular Front coalition as its candidate for the 1938 presidential election and won. He had previously served as deputy for San Felipe, Putaendo and Los Andes from 1915 to 1918, Minister of the Interior from January to September 1918 under president Juan Luis Sanfuentes, deputy for Santiago from 1918 to 1921, Minister of Justice and Public Instruction from 1920 to 1921 under president Arturo Alessandri, and senator for Concepción from 1921 to 1927. Workers' Socialist Party (Chile)
The Workers' Socialist Party ( es, link=no, Partido Socialista de Trabajadores, or PST) was a leftist political party in Chile that existed between 1940 and 1944. The party was founded by a faction of expelled of the Socialist Party of Chile. They were known as ''nonconformists'', as they did not want to continue supporting the government of Pedro Aguirre Cerda and the Popular Front. In spite of this, they were integrated to the Democratic Alliance of Chile. Among its members were César Godoy Urrutia, Carlos Muller, Emilio Zapata Díaz, Carlos Rosales, Natalio Berman and Jorge Dowling. Also included was the secretary general of the Socialist Youth Federation, Orlando Millas. On June 18, 1944, the party was dissolved when most of its militants joined the Communist Party of Chile.
