Demetris Christofi
Demetris Christofi ( el, Δημήτρης Χριστοφή; born 28 September 1988) is a Cyprus, Cypriot professional association football, footballer who plays as a Winger (sports), winger for Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta FC, Anorthosis Famagusta. Career Christofi is a Midfielder#Winger, winger who also plays as a centre-forward or second striker. He is highly regarded for his strong shot. He was considered one of the most promising young players in Cyprus. His transfer from Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, Enosis Neon Paralimni to AC Omonia, Omonia was the most expensive transfer in the history of Cypriot football, reaching a reported cost of €1 million. On 31 May 2017, Omonia announced the renewal of Christofi's contract until 2021. On 31 January 2020, Anorthosis sign with Christofi until 2021. Cypriot First Division
The Cypriot First Division ( el, Πρωτάθλημα Α΄ Κατηγορίας) is the top tier football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Since February 2016, it is sponsored by Cyta and is thus officially known as the Cyta Championship. The league is contested by 14 teams and runs from August to May, with the three lowest-placed teams being relegated to the Cypriot Second Division, and replaced by the top three teams in that division. History Football was introduced to Cyprus early in the 20th century by the British. Initially played in the island's schools, it proved hugely popular and a number of clubs were duly formed.
